Methods of Measuring Areas &Volumes

 Introduction

 Determination of quantities for work items in construction

work involves calculating geometric quantities such as lengths,
areas and volumes from dimensions and angles that are
known.
 Doing this will require a healthy knowledge of the formulae for
calculating the perimeters, areas and volumes for various
shapes.
 These various shapes form the building blocks for most
components found in construction work.
 Invariably, most components can be analysed into common
shapes for that the formulae are known

quantity for the measured works to prepare the Bills of
Quantities.

 Using BOQ, contractor is able to price the work with a

minimum effort.
