Chapter III

METHODOLOGY

The purpose of this chapter is to introduce the research methodology for this qualitative study

regarding the perceptions and strategies for combating fake news on the age of social in Urdaneta City

National Highschool. The qualitative approach allows for a deeper understanding of how students of

Urdaneta City National Highschool battle against fake news and their experiences. Research design, data

collection, sampling strategy and participants selection, data analysis, trustworthiness and rigor and

ethical consideration are addressed in this chapter

RESEARCH DESIGN

The phenomenological study method was used in the study because it is ideally suited for

sufficiently and appropriately answering the study questions. The value of the phenomenological study

approach is found in its capacity to challenge established views and cut through long-held beliefs in order

to understand subjective experience and to acquire insights into people's actions and motivations.

Additionally, it aids in the creation of new assertions, adjustments to policies, or adjustments to

response. The researcher's responsibility is to question the participants. The type of information to be

gathered is qualitative information.

DATA COLLECTION METHOD

In order to collect information and data from participants, researchers will use the interview

method. Researchers conducted interview questions to answer the problems of the study. The interview

method provides rich qualitative data that allows researchers to gain a detailed understanding of

participants' perspectives and experiences. It is particularly useful for exploring complex social

phenomena, capturing subjective viewpoints, and generating nuanced insights that can contribute to
theory-building and in-depth understanding of a research topic. Using the interview approach, gathering

different solutions, increasing awareness of issues, enhancing media literacy, and evaluating current

efforts are all made possible by talking to people about their thoughts on battling fake news. We can

work toward more effective and thorough methods to stop the spread of false information by

comprehending and combining their viewpoints.

DATA ANALYSIS METHOD

The researchers of this study will use narrative to gain more insights in demonstrating the

negative effects of fabricated information on society. It focuses on how inaccurate data can sway public

opinion, obstruct democratic procedures, and erode institutional confidence. It aims to increase public

awareness and support for the fight against fake news by highlighting the possible consequences.

Disinformation is becoming more common, which has increased interest in using artificial intelligence to

detect and stop it.

TRUSTWORTHINESS AND RIGOR

The research study titled "Perceptions and Strategies for Combating Fake News on Social Media:

A Case Study of Urdaneta City National High School" exhibits a commendable level of trustworthiness

and rigor. The study's objectives are explicitly stated, focusing on gaining insights into the perceptions of

both students and teachers regarding the prevalence and impact of fake news on social media platforms.

Additionally, the research aims to identify effective strategies for combating the spread of fake news

within the context of Urdaneta City National High School. By clearly defining these objectives, the study

establishes a solid foundation for the investigation and contributes to the understanding of this pressing

issue in the school community.

To ensure a comprehensive analysis, the study incorporates a rigorous literature review that

examines existing research on fake news, social media, and their implications. This review provides a

theoretical framework that contextualizes the study and highlights relevant strategies employed to

combat fake news. By identifying gaps in the literature, the study establishes its unique contribution to

the field and builds upon prior knowledge. The research methodology employed in the study is

meticulously outlined, including participant selection criteria, reliable data collection methods (such as

surveys, interviews, or focus groups), and appropriate data analysis techniques (qualitative or

quantitative). By adhering to these rigorous methodologies, the study enhances the validity and reliability

of its findings.

ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS

The researchers of this study make sure that moral conduct or behaviors are pursued. Rules and

principles like privacy, beneficence, and truthfulness are complemented by the research's objectives. The

researchers make sure that the researchers can be trusted to conduct the study in the most morally

upright and in ethical manner. It's important to stop fake news from spreading. The propagation of false

information on social media and in Urdaneta City National Highschool (UCNHS) can be stopped with the

help of researchers because it will have a significant negative impact on many lives. The researchers

ensure that the research findings are reported transparently and accurately. Researchers make sure to

avoid misrepresentation, manipulation, or selective reporting of data. Clearly state any conflicts of

interest or funding sources that may influence the research outcomes. Provide sufficient details to enable

others to replicate or verify the study.
