Reading Comprehension
In Old Kuwait, people lived in small houses near the sea. They didn't have
televisions because there was no electricity. It got dark at seven o'clock in the
evening, so people went to bed very early. They used paraffin lamps when it got dark.
They talked a lot and told stories for fun. They sometimes had dinner and slept on the
roofs of their houses on hot nights. The men worked at sea, fishing and the women
stayed at home to look after children. They grew vegetables in the gardens of their

Reading Comprehension
There is a lot of bad weather in both Canada and Kuwait. In Canada, the winter
is six months long. It is very cold and there are a lot of snowstorms. The roads are icy
and driving can be very dangerous. It is very cold and people in Canada should have
warm things in their cars, like hot coffee and blankets. They should wear warm clothes,
like gloves, hats and scarves. In Kuwait, It never snows in winter. It sometimes rains. In
summer, the weather is sunny and hot for most of the year. There are dust storms. If you
are caught in a dust storm, you should cover your mouth and nose with a cloth and go
inside quickly. If dust gets into your nose and mouth, you will feel uncomfortable and
might be ill.
