“Architects have a mind for unity. Therefore
with the d line series I have attempted to accom-
modate most of the requirements found in buil-
ding interiors; not only door handles, but also
wardrobes, signs, handrails, and so on. In terms
of design, coherence is the word; the series
forms a unity in concert with the architecture”.

- Knud Holscher,
Professor, Architect and Designer
Knud Holscher’s philosophy of
functional and minimalist design
has created continuity in d line's
product line for 30 years.
Hardware
The series now includes six indi-
vidual product groups all built
around the same design philoso-
phy and visual language which,
Bathroom when combined, create a “total
solution”.

d line's Total Solution comple-

ments the architect's ideas. The
Washroom different components of the series
tie the building together. Where
door handles, wardrobes and bath-
room interiors can sometimes
appear as trivial add-ons to a build-
Handrail ing, d line's Total Solution provides
a unity for all items – a unity which
provides the building with added
quality and complements the archi-
tecture. Visually strong without
Wardrobe screaming out for attention.

In Knud Holscher's own words:

“Simple ironmongery is to a build-
ing what buttons are to a shirt
Signs – both accentuate colour and
design qualities when they are
elegant, but disturb the unity if
they are gaudy”.

The simplicity and functional design
characterizing d line's Total Solution
also characterise d line’s solutions for
the bathroom. In most buildings the
bathroom is a confusion of different
styles. With d line's however, it is the
same consistent line that cuts through
all fittings and all mountings. The
acid-proof stainless steel surfaces are
easy to keep clean. Hygiene is supre-
me. The overall impression is cohe-
rence.

Washroom
d line's prize winning washroom
panels are a modular component
system which implies a number of
advantages both in the project phase
and in use.

Separate units—from towel dispensers

and waste bins to toilet roll holder and
hand dryer—may be combined in
more than 350 ways, so that the solu-
tion may be adapted to the individual
project.

Unlike many other systems, d line's

washroom panels are built into the
wall. This solution accommodates all
washroom needs with reduced space
and one uniform location for user
interface.
Functional, minimalist and flexible.

Handrail
d line's handrail system is uniquely
constructed of a number of standard
modular components. This indicates
that on site fabrication or welding is
not required. Mounting is very simple
with the components engineered to
accommodate various on site condi-
tions.

The strength of the system is further

underlined by its approval by British
Standard Institute.

The d line Handrail system includes

an engineered concept for minimising
the amount of custom bending required.
The Omnibend connects individually
tapered disks that can be added or
subtracted to create the majority of
angles encountered. Innovative con-
nections, easy to install.

Wardrobe
The wardrobe system constitutes a
simple, almost sculptural solution for
storing clothes and may be adapted to
any individual requirements due to its
flexible design and construction.

With its visual elegance and modular

assembly, the d line system offers a
unique solution for offices, shops,
lobbies, concert and conference halls.

The range is accompanied by a series

of stand-alone components, hooks and
hallstands, with expressive designed
details. Simple and stylish.

Signs
For the first time it is possible to
specify a minimalist sign system in
stainless steel.

This permanence of expression is

fused with all the different levels of
flexibility that are needed to manage
information in the modern environ-
ment. As well as offering interchange-
able stainless panels combined with
paper inserts, the range can also offer
specialist interpretations including
Braille and painted aluminium.

The modular nature of the system

lends itself to free design manipulation
whilst maintaining a minimalist aes-
thetic which unifies to different ele-
ments of the environments with
superior function.
