“Rethink and look for sustainable alternatives.”
If the life span of every product is perceived as a continuous cycle,
appropriate decisions in the interests of maximising sustainability already
have to be made when selecting the raw and input materials for every step
in the production and finishing chain. HERMA’s innovative adhesive materials
give your production team this option right from the start. It’s therefore
likely that you can adopt a new approach much more often than you think,
and prompt a positive change in favour of the three R’s – recycle, reduce,
renew – with your own products.

First ever practical solution for shipping labels
Among all the known linerless labelling concepts, the HERMA InNo-Liner system is regarded
as the first practicable solution of its kind. It peerlessly satisfies the picking pace and other
requirements imposed by logistics and distribution centres. On top of that, the label stock is
compatible with multi-colour preprinting.
The cost is much the same as that of a conventional self-adhesive label, and affordability is
enhanced by eliminating the considerable expense of disposing of liner.

From field to paper
A paper that is probably the kindest to the environment worldwide is produced largely from
grass or, stated more accurately, from sun-dried hay. Processing these fibres to produce paper
for use in the new label material HERMAnature fieno more effectively preserves resources and
generates less CO2 than production operations using virgin fibre or even recycled pulp.
Paper produced from grass is already widely used for diverse types of food packaging, for
example, and is especially popular with companies that champion sustainable packaging.

Instant rewards
Thanks to its universal knowledge base, HERMA offers an end-to-end solution
from the outset – linerless label stock alongside an innovative labeling system.
Users instantly benefit from the peace of mind afforded by integrated performance,
while label manufacturers are presented with new selling points for marketing their
compelling solutions.
Far-reaching effect
Around the world, labeling is an activity which at present generates
millions of tons of liner that is completely useless once the labels have
been applied.
Leading edge
The all-new HERMA InNo-Liner system is the product of a pioneering
performance by the company and its long-established leading edge
in the production of self-adhesive materials based on multi-layer
technology. This advanced applied science demands the simultaneous
application of two adhesive layers. The outer layer remains inactive until
the label is dispensed.

Leadership
through innovation
HERMA is one of the most innovative companies worldwide
regarding the development of adhesives. With regard to multi-
layer technology, we are the industry pioneer. Conventional
adhesives thus become problem solvers, making the use of
special adhesives unnecessary in many cases.

If a label material needs to be completely opaque, then the label converter will usually have to make compromises: Generally
the selection of coloured label materials is very small or one has to use material with coloured adhesive. However, due to the

BS5609 – Section 2
In order for these requirements to be met, the adhered and unprinted label has to be able to be stored in saline seawater for 3 months without
detaching from the substrate that it is adhered to. The interaction between the label material and the pressure-sensitive adhesive is crucial.
With the certified dispersion and UV-acrylic adhesives of HERMA, this challenge can be met with ease.
BS5609 – Section 3
Section 3 defines the test conditions that must be met with regard to legibility and abrasion resistance of the printed image under the influence
of sea water.
Digital print technologies like colour laser printing or aqueous inkjet printing with pigment ink offer
cost-effective alternatives with which the required labels can be printed “just in time” and in the exact
quantity required.
Herma offers two materials – HERMA PE Laser (800) and HERMA PP Inkjet (821) – that meet the strict
sea water resistance requirements according to BS5609 section 2 and section 3. More information can
