BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Birth/ Medical history:
Dhun was born out of a full-term C-section. She had cried immediately after birth. She is being taken care
by her parents.

Developmental history:
The motor milestones have been reported to be achieved quiet late. Currently; she can walk without
assistance and use words to communicate. She needs assistance in putting her dress and buttoning. She
can indicate her toilet needs.

Social & Behavioral history:


The child has good relations with her peers. Behaviorally; she is mildly restless and fidgety.

Academic history:
Academically; Dhun is able to recognize body parts. She cannot identify colours and shapes. She can say
1 to 8 without errors. She cannot say A to Z in a series. She cannot say numbers backwards.

Family history/ Nature of environment:


There is no significant history of intellectual disability.

TESTS ADMINISTERED:-
KAMATH BINET TEST OF INTELLIGENCE
KAMATH BINET TEST OF INTELLIGENCE
The Kamath Binet Test of Intelligence is a commonly used as a verbal test. This test had been revised and
adapted to the Indian condition. It gives a pattern analysis for seven primary abilities namely language,
memory, conceptual thinking, reasoning, numerical reasoning, visual-motor co-ordination and social
intelligence.

On KBI her basal age is 4 years. Her terminal age is 8 years.


Her IQ is 100 indicating average intellectual functioning.

Immediate recall: She could not repeat it. She could not recall 3 digits forward. Backward counting or
recall is not attained.

Comprehension: She could not do comprehension.

Categorization and abstraction: She can identify parts of the body. She cannot discriminate between
shapes. She could not identify all the shapes and colours. She could compare lines with different size.
However; she could not compare weights.

Spatial skills: She could copy a square, but couldn’t copy a diagonal.

Math: She could do simple counting from 1 to 8. She could not do backward counting.

Test taking behavior:


The child appeared to be mildly restless. She cannot understand and follow simple instructions. The test
was administered in English.

CONCLUSION:
On Kamath Binet test of Intelligence; her IQ of 100 is indicative of average intellectual functioning.

RECOMMENDATION:
 Occupational therapy and evaluation
 Behavioral therapy
 Remedial Education
 Academic assessment after 1 year of intervention is advisable
