AUTO IGNITION TEMPERATURE & FLASH POINT TEMPERATURE

• Autoignition temperature – The minimum temperature required to initiate self-sustained combustion

in a substance without any apparent source of ignition.

• Flash-point temperature – The minimum temperature at which the liquid gives off sufficient vapor to
form an ignitable mixture with air near the surface of the liquid or within the test vessel used.

MAXIMUM SURFACE TEMPERATURE

• Highest temperature which is attained in service under the most adverse conditions (but within the
specified tolerances) by any part or surface of Ex Equipment.

• For Equipment in Explosive atmosphere-this could occur internal to equipment or external to the equipment
• The maximum surface temperature marked on the equipment includes safety margins depending on the EPL of the
equipment
