potentially high rate of descent.
Condition: The aeroplane has inadvertently entered a spin.
Objective: To regain control.

The Seneca V is not required to nor has it been spin tested. The recovery
technique is based upon the manufacturer's best available information.
Intentional spins are prohibited.

• Set the desired course on the PFD.


The course pointer will continue to point stright up.
• Loss of AHRS affects autopilot capability:
The autopilot will no longer function in HDG mode but will track a
selected course in NAV mode (using NAV or GPS information).
• Consider any PFD system messages.

To attempt to restore AHRS:

Condition: A failure has occurred withing the CAS system.
Objective: To utilise remaining equipment to continue flight.

If red x appears over CAS message window:

• Monitor MFD ENGINE page to detect system failures.


Master warning and caution indicators are unavailable as are
CAS messages.
• Exit and avoid icing conditions.

• Land as soon as practical.

If CAS messages do not activate when an abnormal condition exists or


disagree with abnormal indication:

• Try to determine whether condition is real.

• If condition cannot to confirmed as an erroneous indication then


treat as real.

Indication: Amber DR annunciation on HSI, amber DR annunciation


superimposed over aeroplane symbol on the moving map.
Condition: A failure of both GPS systems has occurred.
Objective: To reestablish adequate navigation information.

If alternative navigation sources are available:

• Use alternative navigation sources

If alternative navigation sources are not available:

• GPS navigation may be accomplished using the aeroplane symbol


on the MAP display and the amber CDI on the HSI.
Information normally derived from GPS turns amber and
becomes more inaccurate over time. Amber CDI will disappear
after 20 minutes.

• Limit pitot/stall warning heat usage to a maximum of 15 minutes.

• Limit landing gear to 1 extension only.

• The battery is the primary source of electrical power. As battery


power is depleted there may be a point where the system voltage
reduces to a level that is insufficient to support the required
electrical load. If this occurs the emergency battery should take
over automatically but can be forced to do so by turning the BATT
MASTR, LEFT ALTR and RIGHT ALTR switches OFF.

PROPELLER HEAT MALFUNCTION

Indication: Excessive vibration with no accompanying indications.


Condition: The propeller heating system is providing uneven blade heating.
Objective: To reduce the risk of propeller unbalancing and engine failure.

Affected Engine:

• Check PROP HEAT AMPS indication is in the normal range.

Heat is supplied to one set of blades for 90 seconds and then the other set of
blades for 90 seconds.
Insufficient heat being supplied to one set of propeller blades may be verified
by a reduction in current during one on the 90 second cycles.

If vibration is resolved:

Propeller heat must be switched off if vibration persists. Uneven

• Complete ENGINE SECURING PROCEDURE, page 61.

• Land as soon as possible.

If a failure in the exhaust system is not suspected:
