Test II** 25% Week 13, first class (class time)
Quizzes 15% TBA
Final Exam* 35% TBA (Common Exam)
Total 100%
Important: Please read the details below about each assessment component. Observe
that Test I will be onsite for group B and online for group A while Test II will be
onsite for group A and online for group B. The final exam will be onsite for all.

M Explanation of
Assessments Exams: There are 2 midterm exams and the final exam. The final exam covers all
learning outcomes except the first two. The date and time of the final exam will be
scheduled by the registrar’s office. * If you are flagged by the computer, your
instructor may call you for a meeting in which you need to provide
clarifications/justifications. **

Exams Environment: If you do the exam onsite, then you follow the normal
instructions provided to you by the proctor. If you do the exam online, then you are
required to prepare a home environment that guarantees academic integrity. The
instructor will use monitoring software like Respondus with Lockdown browser
and a Webcam if necessary. If you fail to follow the instructions in an exam, your
exam will be void and your grade may be annulled. In this case, your grade will be
assigned based on the assessment components that you do onsite.

Quizzes: You are expected to do 6 quizzes in this course, and the best 5 will be
counted. Quizzes will be assigned few days in advance. Quizzes will be assigned on
WileyPlus and your subscription to WileyPlus is a must.
COURSE SYLLABUS

Help: Students are encouraged to consult their instructor during his office hours
or by appointment.

Other Remarks, Rules and Regulations:

• Attendance: Attendance and Lateness policy as described in the
Undergraduate catalog will be strictly implemented in this course. The
attendance is meant to be physical when it is onsite and to be active
involvement in live session through remote learning software (Blackboard
Collaborate or Google Meet) when it is virtual.
• Late attendance: Students are expected to be punctual. Three (3) late
attendances will count as one absence. Lateness is defined as showing up
late by 5 minutes or more. If the instructor finds late attendance as a
disturbing phenomenon, then some strict actions may be taken.
• Smart devices during quizzes and exams: All devices that can be used
to violate the academic integrity policy are prohibited, and a violation of
this policy can lead to severe actions against the student.
• Make-up exams: There will be no make-up exams. In certain cases, and
after deep scrutiny, the instructor may give a missed assessment the
average of the other elements in that component. However, the student has
to file a petition supported by evidence to the instructor. The instructor will
go through all petitions, scrutinizes them and uses his discretion to decide.
The decision is final and there is no room for discussion or appeal.
• Incomplete Grades: Failing to show up on time for the final exam will
result in a zero grade in that exam. Only in exceptional cases of compelling
medical or other emergencies certified by a medical or other professional
and approved by the AUS Health Center, the Instructor and the Dean’s
Office; will the student be given an “Incomplete” grade. In this case, the
instructor will schedule a make-up exam within the first two weeks of the
next semester. It is the responsibility of the student to find out from his/her
instructor the exact date, time and place of the make-up exam.
Final Grades: All students are treated equally. Tests and other graded assignments
due dates are set. No addendum, make-up exams, or extra assignments to improve
grades will be given. If I find at the end of the semester that your total grade is close
to a cut-off by a maximum of 2 points, then I use my records (attendance, discipline,
seriousness and efforts) to judge whether or not I adjust the grade.

N Student Academic
All students are expected to abide by the Student Academic Integrity Code as
Integrity Code articulated in the AUS undergraduate catalog 2020‐2021. More information is given in
Statement Spring 2021 FAQ's https://www.aus.edu/about/ausresponse-to-the-coronavirus-
disease-covid-19

O Attendance Policy Students in this course are required to follow the AUS Attendance Policy as outlined
in the AUS Undergraduate Catalog 2021-2022 (p. 27).
During the face to face component of the course, a student should be present on
campus in order to not be marked absent. During the online component of the
course, a student should be present online in order to not be marked absent.
Students are required to attend according to their designated group in their section
(A or B). Students will not be allowed to change their designated group or switch
between F2F and online.
