B Before You Start

The programming system for the SBZ 130 Rod Machining Center provides a high-
performance programming environment for all problem solutions in the area of profile
machining.
In this software version 3.22, ideas and suggestions of our users have been implemented to
further increase the performance and operator friendliness of the previous version.

The SBZ 130 Control System includes all functions required for both the operator and
service technician.
To prevent the machine operator from being bothered with, for him/her, unnecessary menus,
passwords have been assigned for the service functions.

The operating manual for the SBZ 130 Control System is divided into sections. In the first
section (Chapter 2) the general operation of the software is described. In the second section
(Chapter 3) the entry of programs and machine operation are explained using detailed
examples.

Subject to technical change without notice.

physically carry, activating the tool deactivates the tool previously saved in
this position.
Position: Here the position assigned to the tool in the tool
changer is specified. The individual positions
are marked on the tool changer.

Always enter a two-digit position number (e.g.

40 must be entered for the position 4).
Note:
The two-digit entry of the position number is necessary, as the machine can be
equipped with tool heads provided with a left and right machining side and/or a
front and rear machining side.

Position 32 Position 31

In this case, the following position numbers must be entered for the tool in
position 3:

2.2.3.2 Programming path data with real numerical values:

Planning:
To plan a contour it is best to use the coordinate system shown below.
With this type of coordinate system it is possible within a very short time
to program even complex contours.
However, a different coordinate system orientation results depending on
which side the profile is viewed from:

+y -z (y) -z (y)

Operating Instructions 2-15

Control System SBZ 130

The coordinate system "View from above" is always used for

programming. The other illustrated coordinate systems are only used
for improved orientation.
Note:
To enable programming of the contour from the machining side, the
coordinate system from the material side 1 was projected on the
machining side 2.

2.2.3.3 Programming path data with variable values

Although the programming of contours is easiest with real numbers, this
method involves a great deal of effort.
For example, the diameter of the cutter must always be taken into
consideration and subtracted from or added to the values. In addition,
the contour dimensions must also be entered repeatedly for changing
profile dimensions.

If programming is carried out with variables, a contour programmed

once can be used for several applications.

Note:
The graphic display of the contour is dependent on the entries in the
Specified Values function (F9). However, the values entered there are
used exclusively for this display mode.
The values actually used for this contour are specified in the machining
program (L and B) or in the tool definition (D).

The following variables are available:

Variable Meaning Specified in

L Contour length Machining program
B Contour width Machining program
D Milling cutter diameter Tools

Variable programming is explained in the following examples using the

examples 1 and 3 as a basis.
