Performance Standard : The learner observes safety measures in farm operations in horticulture.

Objectives : 8.4. Explain the importance of checking shelf life and/or expiration of materials’
effectivity against manufacturer’s specifications and 9.2. Label unused materials
and supplies according to manufacturer’s recommendation and farm
requirements before storing

A. Preliminary Activity
a. Review
b. Motivation
The teacher will flash pictures of the effects of chemicals towards the body of human being if accident
occurs.
c. Presentation of the Lesson
Present the lesson for the day.

B. Activity
Individual task: Students will come up with a slogan voicing their suggestions and recommendation on how
to minimize chemical related accidents towards human and another living organism. They will place their outputs
on a long bond paper. Twenty minutes will be allotted for this activity. (Refer to Activity Sheet 2.2, p. 118 of the LM)
C. Analysis
How will you prevent chemical hazards at school and at home?

D. Abstraction
If time permits, the teacher will have a generalization about the lesson for that day.

E. Application
In simplest way as a student, how will you apply caution in terms of chemical hazards in all that you do,
especially at school or at home? Cite one specific example.

V. EVALUATION
The teacher will conduct a ten (10) item formative assessment for the day. Students will place it on a ¼ sheet of
paper.

VI. ASSIGNMENT
Look for ways for proper waste disposal in the farm. Write your answer in your TLE notebook.
