- it shows that changing the grouping
of the addends does not change the
sum.

Example: 1+ (2+2) = 5

(1+2) +2 = 5

2 + (3+4) = 9
(2 + 3) +4 = 9
Zero Property
- It shows that adding a number to
0 or adding 0 to a number does not
change the number.

Example: 8+0=8

0+8=8
