The matrix structure merges both the traditional functional structure and the product structure. In

the matrix structure, employees are expected to report to two(2) managers, that is, departmental

manager and project manager. The main challenge of reporting to more than one (1) manager in a

matrix organisation is role ambiguity and role conflict. The employees can be confused of what

is expected of them and what they have to do when they receive instructions which are mutually

exclusive to each other. There can also be interpersonal conflict among team members and as

well as the team leaders in practicing the matrix structure. The matrix structure also has the

benefit of increasing communication and cooperation among the different departments since the

project manager coordinates his/her actions with the departmental managers.

A boundaryless organization remove the barriers and boundaries between departments as well

as the barriers between the organization and the external environment. The advantages of being

employed in a boundaryless organization is that, there is an increased flexibility and cooperation.

The employees are not bound rigid boundaries and departmental barriers. The disadvantages of

being employed in a boundaryless organization is that, there is a communication difficulty and

lack of control over the employees. Another disadvantage of working in a boundaryless

organization is that there is no structured and solidified authority which leads to lack of control.

A learning organization is the one designed to consistently acquire knowledge related to its

function and effectively utilize this knowledge to in a changing environment to maximize its

efficiency. The main cost of maintaining an organizational learning environment is the time

invested in learning. Cultural change and maintenance as well as training is also required to

maintain an organizational environment. The greatest benefit of maintaining organizational

learning is that environment there is a continuous and persistent learning and development.

I would like to work for a learning organization. The reason why I would prefer a learning

organization is that, it will give me the opportunity to constantly learn new things and also

provide an environment to develop my skills. A learning organization will also make me more

creative and innovative.
