GROUP DISCUSSION

Introduction:

A group discussion (GD) is a type of interactive, oral communication which takes place
when a group of people get together to discuss something. A group discussion can be informal or
formal. An informal group discussion occurs when a group of friends talk about things in general
at their college canteen, outside the classroom, at a bus stop or any other place; or when a family
talks about various things, or when a group of people talk about various matters, such as sports,
train travel, price rise, examinations, favorite film stars etc. In these informal discussions, each
one freely expresses his/her views on the subject. In formal contexts, group discussions are
increasingly used as a tool to identify candidates with the right abilities, either for employment
or for admission to various courses. As the term itself suggests, a GD is a discussion, but most
students misinterpret it to be a debate. What is actually expected in a GD is participation in a
systematic way on a particular topic finding a solution to it...

The prospect of a GD tends to leave good number of participants petrified. You can get rid of
that feeling of fear by remembering you have experienced group discussions right from
childhood. Remember those heated discussions you had across the dinner table with family
members, friends and relatives? Consciously or unconsciously, they have helped you learn a
thing or two about discussing in a group. As a result, you would have often felt the desire to
prove that you were right and they were wrong. A bundle of angst would build within you.
Discard that feeling now. Remember, a GD is a discussion -- and not a debate -- between the
members of a group.

There are two kinds of GD. Structured and Unstructured

Structured GD is where each participant gets specific time to speak. Unstructured is anyone in
the group can speak at any point of time without disturbing general decorum.
Uses of a GD

1. To express important points about a given topic.

2. Telling facts about the topic with justification
3. To develop oratory skills
4. To drive fear away
5. To share opinions
6. To arrive at a positive conclusion

The main areas of a GD are

1. Subject knowledge about current affairs, politics, social issues, economic issues,
scientific and environmental problems.
2. Analysis will help to discard unimportant and irrelevant points
3. GD develops communication skills such as listening, language, expression, articulation
and pronunciation, verbal and non-verbal.
4. It develops leadership skills like initiation, assertiveness, self-confidence, persuasiveness,
patience, body language and motivation.
5. Team management skills include adaptability, positive thinking, cooperation,
coordination and correcting attitudinal lapses.
Dynamics of GD

1. The opening of a GD should be attractive and direct the course of discussion.

2. Reasoning ability plays an important role.
3. Plan a strategy
4. The motivator or the leader of a group should roll the topic on, avoiding pauses.
5. The leader should see that bitter arguments and personal criticism are avoided
6. Understanding the topic from all possible angles
7. Summing up is very important for a good GD
8. Proper body language and eye contact makes a GD effective.
9. Use position, reason, example and position formula
Useful phrases of a GD

 Agreeing: You are absolutely right

 Disagreeing: I am sorry, I don’t see it in that way
 Interrupting: Sorry, do you mind, if I say something here?
 Dealing with interruptions: Could I just finish with what I am saying?
 Asking for information: Would you mind saying a little more about it?
 Adding more information: Another point I would like to make is…..

Different parts of a GD (for 15 minutes GD)

 Chaos period (1-2 minutes)

 Period of generating ideas (7-8 minutes)
 Building discussion on the ideas (5-6 minutes)
 Conclusion (1 minute)

Strategies for effective group discussion

1. The opening sentences should create enthusiasm and interest among the listeners.
2. Systematic implementation of the content.
3. Body gestures or nonverbal communication should be balanced.
4. Balancing the points of discussion when opposition is raised.
5. Anticipation of possible disruptions.
6. Politeness doesn’t tend to either muteness or muttering.
7. Open mindedness
8. Cheerful personality while recapping the ideas.

Do’s of a GD
 Listen to the speaker carefully
 Put your thoughts on paper
• Support your point with some facts and figures.
• Give others a chance to speak and respect their contribution.
• Disagree politely.
• Do not forget to summarize, if you are the initiator.

Don’ts of a GD

 Sitting with crossed arms and legs.

 Throwing your body organs or limbs.
 Fidgeting
 Sitting stiff
 Scratching, pricking or rubbing
 Expressing anger or uncontrollable laughter
 Over speak or intervene without proper usage of vocabulary
 Argue or shout
 Erratic statistics
 Speak about intercultural or socio-economic background of any participant.

HEALTHCARE CHATBOT

The idea is to create a medical chatbot that can diagnose the disease and provide basic details about the disease
before consulting a doctor. This will help to reduce healthcare costs and improve accessibility to medical
knowledge through medical chatbot. The chatbots are computer programs that use natural language to interact
with users. Our project focuses on providing the users immediate and accurate prediction of the diseases based on
their symptoms. Chatbots can play a major role in reshaping the healthcare industry by providing predictive
diagnosis.

In conclusion, the integration of an intelligent healthcare chatbot holds significant promise in transforming
healthcare delivery by providing personalized, accessible, and efficient support to patients. By leveraging
advanced technologies, this chatbot has the potential to enhance healthcare experiences, optimize resource
allocation, and improve overall patient care.

OBJECTIVE
The objective of integrating chatbot technology into healthcare is to enhance healthcare delivery, improve patient
experiences, and support healthcare professionals in their daily tasks.
One of the primary objectives of healthcare chatbots is to improve patient engagement and accessibility to
healthcare services. By offering round-the-clock availability, patients can access the chatbot anytime and receive
immediate support for non-emergency healthcare concerns. Whether it's symptom assessment, general health
information, or appointment scheduling.
EXISTING SYSTEM

Many of the existing systems have chats through texts. Some limitations of such Chatbots are, there is no instant
response given
to the patient, they have to wait for experts acknowledgement for a long time. And also there are a limited
number of diseases in
the dataset. Technical issues like voice messages are not accurate in the existing system.
These existing healthcare chatbot systems represent a diverse range of functionalities, including symptom
assessment, health information, medication management, and mental health support.
They demonstrate the potential of chatbot technology in delivering personalized, accessible, and efficient
healthcare assistance to users. Ongoing research and development continue to refine these systems, expanding
their capabilities and improving their effectiveness in supporting patients and healthcare professionals.

DRAWBACKS IN EXISTING SYSTEM

While healthcare chatbots offer significant potential, they also have certain drawbacks and limitations that are
important to consider. Some of the common drawbacks in existing healthcare chatbot systems include that are
Lack of Contextual Understanding that means Chatbots may struggle to fully comprehend the context and
complexity of user queries. They might provide generic responses or fail to capture the nuances of specific
medical conditions, leading to inaccurate or incomplete information being presented to users. Limited Diagnostic
Accuracy this lets the Healthcare chatbots primarily rely on algorithms and predefined databases to analyze
symptoms and provide recommendations. While they can offer general guidance, they may not always accurately
diagnose complex or rare medical conditions, potentially leading to misdiagnosis or inadequate advice. Inability
to Handle Ambiguity because Healthcare conversations can involve ambiguous or subjective information that
requires human judgment and empathy. Chatbots may struggle to interpret and respond appropriately to such
situations, leading to frustration or inadequate support for users who require more compassionate and nuanced
interactions

PROPOSED SYSTEM

In our system the user can interact with the chatbot through text and chat bot will interact using voice and text
manner. With respect to the users queries, the bot identifies the disease if user chatting with the chatbot.
According to the diseases of the user, bot gives suggestions for the disease and also prescribe specialist doctors.
This system can be used by multiple users at a time without any lagging

ADVANTAGES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM

While healthcare chatbots offer significant potential, they also have certain drawbacks and limitations that are
important to consider. Some of the common drawbacks in existing healthcare chatbot systems include:
•Lack of Emotional Support:
Healthcare chatbots often lack the ability to provide emotional support or empathetic responses that human
healthcare providers can offer. Users may miss the human connection and emotional understanding that is crucial
in healthcare settings, particularly for sensitive or emotionally challenging situations.
•Dependency on User Inputs:
The effectiveness of healthcare chatbots heavily relies on accurate and comprehensive user inputs. Users may
unintentionally omit or miscommunicate information, leading to incorrect recommendations or insufficient
guidance. Chatbots may also face challenges in probing further to obtain necessary details.
•Language and Cultural Barriers:
Healthcare chatbots may struggle to understand and communicate effectively with users from diverse linguistic
backgrounds or cultural contexts. Language nuances, dialects, or cultural factors may lead to misinterpretation of
queries or recommendations, potentially hindering accurate communication.
•Ethical and Legal Considerations:
Healthcare chatbots handle sensitive personal health data, requiring strict adherence to privacy and data
protection regulations. Ensuring robust security measures and maintaining ethical standards in data handling and
usage is crucial to building trust and mitigating risks associated with data breaches or misuse.

AIM OF PROJECT

The project aims to develop a healthcare chatbot, an AI-powered software application, to enhance healthcare
delivery, improve patient experiences, and support healthcare professionals in their daily tasks. The healthcare
chatbot will utilize advanced machine learning algorithms and natural language processing (NLP) techniques to
provide personalized, accessible, and efficient assistance to users.
The key features and functionalities of the healthcare chatbot will include:
1. Symptom Assessment:
The chatbot will engage in a conversational dialogue with users to accurately assess their symptoms and provide
preliminary guidance on potential causes or recommended actions.
2. Health Information and Education:
The chatbot will offer a vast knowledge base of medical information, enabling users to access reliable health
information, preventive measures, and lifestyle advice. It will empower users to make informed decisions about
their health and well-being.

or content-based filtering, to provide personalized recommendations to users.
4. Sentiment Analysis and User Feedback: Sentiment analysis techniques are applied to user feedback to gauge
user satisfaction, identify areas of improvement, and track the chatbot's performance.

DEPLOYMENT
We deploy our model using python, we firstly collect the most accurate medical datas and then deploy it to the
browser using python and created a healthcare chatbot.

ACCURACY TESTING
Before deploying the model, we check the accuracy of each model using the accuracy score of each model. We
take the accuracy of the model over the train data and then compare the accuracy of the model over the test data.
We generally aim for high bias but a low variance model so that the model is the most accurate and we do not
have any inconsistencies while pushing it for production.

FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS
We could further enhance this chatbot by developing this pop up into a app or a website. Audio system can also
be included in this system to make this Chabot more interactive.
And improving the accuracy by collecting more true data so that we could improve the efficiency

Applications of Health Care Chatbots:

- Symptom Triage: Chatbots can help users assess their symptoms and provide recommendations for self-care,
seeking medical attention, or emergency services.

- Medication Management: Chatbots can offer medication reminders, dosage instructions, and information
about potential drug interactions.

- Health Monitoring: Chatbots can collect and analyze patient-generated health data, such as vital signs, activity
levels, and sleep patterns.

- Mental Health Support: Chatbots can provide emotional support, coping strategies, and resources for
individuals dealing with mental health issues.

- Administrative Assistance: Chatbots can assist with administrative tasks, such as appointment scheduling,
insurance inquiries, and billing support.

Benefits of Health Care Chatbots:

- 24/7 Availability: Chatbots provide round-the-clock access to health information and support, reducing the
need for immediate human intervention.

- Increased Efficiency: Chatbots automate routine tasks, freeing up healthcare professionals' time for more
complex and critical activities.

- Improved Patient Engagement: Chatbots engage patients in interactive conversations, empowering them to
take an active role in managing their health.

CONCLUSION
A Chatbot is a great tool for conversation. Here the application is developed to provide quality of answers in a
short period of time. It removes the burden from the answer provider by directly delivering the answer to the user
using an expert system. The project is developed for the user to save the user their time in consulting the doctors
or experts for the healthcare solution. Here we developed the application using machine learning. Future scope of
this chatbot is very vast. The smartness and intelligence of this chatbot can be increased by conducting more
study and increasing the database so that Chabot could answer all type of question about every type of disease.

Part 1: Gap Filling (10 words) – 5 marks

Instruction: Listen to the passage and type the correct word in the blanks. NOTE:
Audio can be replayed twice.

[AUDIO TRANSCRIPT: Game theory has found its applications in numerous fields such as
Economics, Social Science, Political Science, and Evolutionary Biology. Game theory is now finding its
applications in computer science. The nature of computing is changing because of success of Internet
and the revolution in Information technology. The advancement in technologies has made it possible to
commoditize the components such as network, computing, storage and software. In the new paradigm,
there are multiple entities (hardware, software agents, protocols etc.) that work on behalf of different
autonomous bodies (such as a user, a business etc.) and provide services to other similar entities.
Internet has made it possible for many such geographically distributed autonomous entities to interact
with each other and provide various services.]

[AUDIO TRANSCRIPT: Nano science is the science of the extremely small – objects smaller than 100
nano metres (0.00001 cm). At these scales, the properties of materials change dramatically. Factors such
as Brownian motion, surface stickiness and quantum effects become important. Nanotechnologies are
based on a range of new materials, including carbon C60, carbon nano tubes, nano particles, nano wires,
and polymers based on nano-size subunits. A huge range of applications are possible, based on stronger,
lighter or smaller materials, or compounds with unusual optical or electrical properties. Early
applications are enhancing existing products – tennis racquets, golf clubs, sunscreens. Possible medical
applications include better implants, wound dressings, diagnostics and cancer treatments. Combining
biological molecules with nano mechanical components is creating radically new materials; these are at
an early stage of development. Environmental concerns focus mainly on nano particles but very little is
known about their impact on living things.]
