6. SETTING THE LENS

● Identifying minimum lens diameter (on LAYOUT screen)
 The AE-3000 automatically calculates the diameter of the frame traced and displays
the shape along with the values.
 The diameter of the lens can be identified before cutting by placing the lens with the
optical center marked on the screen and aligning it with the astigmatic axis.

● Setting the lens

Blocking lens
 Affix the leap cup to the lens with the optical center marked with a lens meter
(such as the AL-3500) using the Blocker (TD-B).
 Arrange so that the axis is at 180 degrees to the optical center of lens, attach the leap
tape to the leap cup, and affix it to the convex face of the lens.
 Block the lens so that the pin hole in the leap cup is upward.

■■■IMPORTANT■■■: How to attach a leap tape

Turn the tag to temple-side.
Apply a leap tape with turning its tag to temple-side, otherwise
lens measurement error may occur. narrow

 If a leap tape is applied within 1-mm from lens edge, measurement measurement sensor
error may occur because linear sensor moves onto the tape, and then measurement
edging defect in chamfering, grooving or bevel-edging may occur. error caused by
leap tape

After blocking a lens, put the lens on the screen and reconfirm
1-mm space around the lens.

Keep more than

1-mm space.

■■■IMPORTANT■■■: Grooving thin center-thickness lenses

In case of grooving thin center-thickness lenses, block them at
the boxing-center. If you block them at the optical center, the
lens will be moved and edging defect will occur.
