TYPES OF

NETWORK
TOPOLOGIES

Topology refers to the way in

which the device/computer/
workstations attached to each
other are interconnected.

The layout of interconnection of

devices in a network is called
Topology.

1 BUS TOPOLGY
The bus topology uses a
common single cable
(backbone cable) to connect
to all workstations. Each
computer performs it's task
of sending message without
the help of the central server.

2 STAR TOPOLGY
In star topology, each node is
directly connected to a
central device like hub or
switch. It is most popular
PROTOTYPE
topology to form Local Area
Networks (LAN).

3 TREE TOPOLGY

The tree topology combines

the characteristics of the
linear bus and star
topologies. It consists of
groups of star - configured
workstations connected to
a bus backbone cable.
