How to Fix Services in Storage Device List for Gxx0 SVP

Objective
• Fix Gx00 / Fx00 service if it doesn't start.
• Rebooting SVP didn't start the service.
• Stopping and Starting Storage Device List Services didn't start the service.

Environment
• VSP Gx00 and VSP Fx00
◦ VSP F/G/N 800/600/400/200
• VSP G130 G/F350 G/F370 G/F700 G/F900
◦ VSP F/G 900/700/370/350/130
• Service Processor (SVP)
• Stopped Services
• Services in Warning

Procedure
1. Verify Both Controller 1 GUM and Controller 2 GUM are online and Ready


2. Reboot Controller 1 GUM

◦ .
3. Wait for Controller 1 GUM to recover
4. Once Controller 1 GUM is recovered, Reboot Controller 2 GUM
5. Wait for Controller 2 GUM to recover

6. Force Release System Lock on any controller (right above ‘Reboot GUM’)
7. Reboot SVP

-NOTE: Please try the steps above first. If they don't fix the issue, move onto these...

1. Stop / Temporarily Uninstall Anti-Virus (if applicable)


2. Stop Remote Ops (Hi-Track)
◦ Start -> Run -> services.msc and hit enter

3. Set the Remote Ops (Hi-Track) services to Manual

4. Open Storage Device List and uncheck Start service automatically, when the SVP is rebooted

5. Reboot the SVP
6. Verify that the Remote Ops (Hi-Track) services are not started
7. Copy / screenshot the settings in Edit System screen
8. Verify that the services are stopped

9. Make a backup of SVP configuration (see FE-94HM8036 or This Knowledge Article: Click Here)
◦ cd c:\mapp\wk\supervisor\mappiniset
◦ mappbackup.bat
◦ Move the newly generated files to the maintenance pc or thumb drive.

10. Verify you have the matching Microcode CD for the code currently installed on the SVP
11. Click the Red X to remove the device from the Storage Device List

◦ If the operation fails with "The files cannot be deleted. ( 21542-005014 )" it is likely that Remote Ops (Hi-
Track) is still running. Go ahead and stop the services and try again.

12. Reboot SVP
13. Open Storage Device List and Select Add (Big + )

14. For Software Selection select Browse...


15. Navigate to the Firmware CD -> Firmware Level -> software -> productname.inf

16. Once all of the appropriate information is filled out, Apply will become available.
17. Once the device is available, select Edit and make sure Start service automatically, when SVP is rebooted is
checked.
18. Set the Remote Ops (Hi-Track) services to Automatic again in services.msc
19. Reboot the SVP
20. Verify Remote Ops (Hi-Track) services have started
21. Verify Storage Device List Services have started (This can take up to 15 - 30 minutes)
