DEVELOPING

COMPREHENSION
SKILLS
Asking questions before, during and after reading a text, helps the
reader monitor their understanding. It helps them to engage with the
text actively, think critically, and make connections between what they
already know and new information. By asking questions, students can
clarify confusing ideas, predict what might happen next, and evaluate
the author's purpose and message. This process promotes deeper
comprehension and can enhance the overall reading experience.
Encouraging students to ask questions also helps them to develop self-
monitoring skills and become independent learners.
