Simulation and Experiential Learning Workshop

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) recognizes the value of technology and innovations
and its benefits for Philippine society. With more and more HEIS holding face-to-face classes,
technological innovations such as simulations will greatly help design classrooms and laboratories
that will minimize physical contact among teachers and students (Commission on Higher
Education, 2022). Simulation-based education (SBE) would involve the use of simulations to
provide clinical encounters that are safe for students, faculty, and future patients. Health
professions education can greatly benefit from SBE, as SBE provides an avenue for hands-on
learning without the unnecessary risks that would be entailed in learning through real-life
situations (Lateef, 2010; University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, 2021 ).
The project "SIMULATION AND EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING WORKSHOP" is a series of workshops
that ensures the current and future workforce can address a variety of patient needs. In-service
and pre-service education and training must adopt a learning model that prepares them to
effectively utilize their acquired knowledge and skills immediately to address real world
challenges. Using the Competency-based education (CBE) and high-fidelity simulators (HFS), the
project aims to efficiently prepare the workforce to actively bridge the theory-to-practice divide.

Program Outcomes:
At the end of this program, the participants are expected to:

W05. Create scenarios using simulation fidelities
W06. Understand effective teaching with simulation based education
W05. Collaborate with SIMULA-PH with possible projects and health research
