I. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Mathematics is the science that deals with the logic of shape, quantity and
arrangement. Math is all around us, in everything we do. It is the building block for
everything in our daily lives, including mobile devices, architecture (ancient and
modern), art, money, engineering, and even sports.
Since the beginning of recorded history, mathematic discovery has been at the
forefront of every civilized society, and in use in even the most primitive of cultures.
The needs of math arose based on the wants of society. The more complex a
society, the more complex the mathematical needs. Primitive tribes needed little
more than the ability to count, but also relied on math to calculate the position of the
sun and the physics of hunting.Mathematics also used in computing student's
grades. Grades can also be a factor for consideration into an honor society in
college.Students find that involvement in an honor society or other club also makes
you eligible for special funding and opens the door for incredible opportunities.
This mini research aims to determine the performance of Grade 10 students in
Mathematics during second grading quarter, and identify their level of performance
while learning mathematics.
The ultimate goal of the educational process is for the student to learn, and
the success of the process can be judged by the learner's achievement. It is now
the responsibility of educators to find ways to successfully teach and learn math

Based on the data 75 percent of G10 – Cassiopeia has a grade of which is equal or
less than 87.74. This is the third quartile. The eight decile or 80 percent of the class
has a grade of which is equal or less than 88.78. Forty percent of the class has a
grade of which is equal or less than 81.34.
