3.2 Description of Project/Task

3.2.1 Introduction to Digital Marketing

Digital marketing refers to the practice of promoting products, services, or brands using
digital channels and technologies. With the rise of the internet and various online platforms,
digital marketing has become an essential component of modern business strategies. It
encompasses a wide range of activities aimed at reaching and engaging target audiences
through various online mediums. The goal of digital marketing is to drive brand awareness,
increase customer engagement, and ultimately boost sales and revenue.

Key Components of Digital Marketing such as content marketing, focuses on creating

and distributing valuable and relevant content to attract and engage target audiences. This
includes blog posts, articles, videos, infographics, and more. Social media platforms like
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn are used to create and share content, interact with
users, and build a brand's online presence. Pay-Per-Click Advertising (PPC) involves placing
ads on search engines and other online platforms. Advertisers pay a fee each time their ad is
clicked. This method is used to drive targeted traffic to websites. Next, Influencer Marketing.
This strategy involves collaborating with individuals who have a strong online following
influencers to promote products or services. Influencers can help reach a broader audience and
build credibility. More, affiliate marketing. In affiliate marketing, businesses partner with
affiliates who promote their products on their platforms. Affiliates earn a commission for every

11
sale generated through their referral. Video content is increasingly popular, with platforms like
YouTube and TikTok being powerful tools for reaching audiences. Video marketing can
include product demonstrations, tutorials, testimonials, and more. Digital marketing relies
heavily on data collection and analysis. Marketers use tools to track user behavior, engagement,
and conversion rates to measure the effectiveness of campaigns.

Benefits of Digital Marketing are like global reach. Digital marketing allows businesses
to reach a global audience, breaking down geographical barriers. Precise targeting options
enable marketers to reach specific demographics and segments means can reach targeted
audience. Digital marketing can be more budget-friendly than traditional methods, especially
for small businesses. The effectiveness of digital marketing campaigns can be tracked in real-
time through analytics, providing valuable insights. Digital channels facilitate direct interaction
with customers, leading to higher engagement and better customer relationships. Digital
marketing allows for quick adjustments to strategies based on performance data and market
trends.

In summary, digital marketing is a dynamic and versatile approach to promoting

businesses in the digital age. It involves utilizing various online channels and strategies to
connect with target audiences, build brand awareness, and achieve business goals.

Figure 7: Digital Marketing Video Content

12
3.2.2 Development of Marketing Platforms

In addition to my training, I have acquired the marketing platforms for Shopee

affiliates involves creating a comprehensive ecosystem that empowers affiliates to effectively
promote Shopee's products and earn commissions. All provided information can be utilised
as leads by the Sales Department. Here’s a step by step guide to developing such platform
which are Affiliate Registration and Onboarding. I created a user-friendly registration
process for affiliates to join the program and collect necessary information for payouts and
communication.

Next, develop a centralized dashboard for affiliates to track their performance, earnings,
activities and provide real-time analytics on clicks, conversions, and sales. Offer a wide
range of promotional materials such as product images and videos that affiliates can use and
ensure these materials are easily accessible and customizable. Enable deep linking, allowing
affiliates to link directly to specific product pages. Affiliates allow to create and share
content such as marketplace posts, reviews, and social media posts. I provide tools for easy
content generation and sharing across platforms. Ferr yrich Sdn. Bhd. guides me to help
affiliates optimize their marketing strategies and educate affiliates on best practices for
driving conversions. We set up communication channels such as WhatsApp group to keep
affiliates informed and foster a sense of community and provide direct support. For payment
and pay-outs, we develop a reliable payment system that calculates commissions accurately
and offer multiple pay-out options, such as bank transfers or digital wallets.

More, we introduce gamification elements to motivate affiliates to achieve higher

sales targets and provide rewards for top performers, like bonus commissions or exclusive
perks. For compliance and guidelines, we clearly communicate affiliate guidelines and
ensure affiliates adhere to ethical marketing practices and implement mechanisms to review
and approve affiliate-generated content. We continuously gather feedback from affiliates to
enhance the platform's usability and features and regularly update the platform to stay aligned
with industry trends and user preferences.

Developing a robust marketing platform for Shopee affiliates requires a combination of

technical expertise, user experience design, and a deep understanding of affiliate marketing
dynamics. Regularly refining the platform based on user feedback and market trends will

13
contribute to its long-term success.

Figure 8: Affiliate Targetting Username

3.2.3 Video Marketing Production

During my industrial training, I am also involved in the video marketing creation

process for Ferryrich Sdn. Bhd. This video's objective is to promote the products and provide
content for the marketing team. One of the few types of Video Marketingis the customer
experience or testimonial video, along with comments from previous customers. The
following is an instructional sharing video designed to attract our target audience. This
marketing video cannot exceed 60 seconds in length and must adhere to Tiktok and
Facebook's regulations. The process of creating a marketing video began with the creation of
a storyboard and script, followed by the selection of a location for filming. On the day of
filming, I am responsible for set preparation, which includes handling shooting equipment,

14
aiding and managing the talent.
The raw film will then be retrieved as the plot in order to create a complete marketing
video with subtitles. This procedure is vital sinceit will determine the marketability of our
products and services. The video can be used more than once if it adheres to Ferryrich Sdn.
Bhd.'s guidelines on how to develop an effective video marketing campaign. The majority of
the video editing was performed on Canva.com and Adobe Illustrator. Through Mrs.
Syafiqah's instruction, I have received new knowledge on how to deal on video marketing
and how to perform for video marketing.

Figure 9: Video Marketing Production

3.2.4 Business Development

During training for this category, I was exposed to many business model variations.
Business development is the process of creating and expanding opportunities to drive growth
and improve the overall success of a company. It involves strategic activities aimed at building
relationships, identifying new markets, and enhancing the value proposition. Here's a concise
summary of business development like analysing market trends, customer needs, and
competitive landscape to identify potential opportunities and gaps. Relationship Building was
important for cultivating and nurturing relationships with potential clients, partners, investors,
and other stakeholders. Initiating and nurturing leads to convert them into potential customers
or clients.
15
Forming strategic partnerships and collaborations can access new markets,
technologies, or distribution channels. Engaging in sales activities and negotiations to close
deals and secure contracts. Identifying opportunities for product or service improvements and
innovations that align with market demand. Developing plans to enter new markets, regions,
or demographics effectively. Aligning business development efforts with the overall
company strategy and objectives. Evaluating potential risks and challenges associated with
new opportunities and devising mitigation strategies. Next, using data and analytics to make
informed decisions, assess performance, and refine business development strategies.
Focusing on sustainable growth by building long-lasting relationships that provide ongoing
value.

In addition to my training, I also understand the types of business opportunity. The first
one is high commitment, high return. In this phase we will put extra amount of effort for a high
return of revenue. Next is high commitment, low return where we will have to go extra miles
for low return. We are advised to not take this type of job same goes for the low commitment
and low return. The most advisable job to take is the low commitment, high return because we
only spend less effort for a higher return of revenue. Mrs Syafiqah guide me through that we
needto leverage our company Unique Selling Points (USP) in order to connect with our
business model and opportunity.

Importance in Business development is essential for companies to stay competitive,

adapt to changing market dynamics, and seize new growth prospects. It helps businesses
expand their reach, increase revenue streams, and strengthen their position in the market.
Outcome, successful business development leads to increased market share, revenue growth,
improved brand recognition, and enhanced competitiveness within the industry. Note, business
development can vary across industries and company sizes, but its core principles remain
focused on identifying and pursuing growth opportunities. As part of my ongoing training, I
have been tasked with creating a Business Development Presentation that covers all relevant
information about our services, including pricing. This pitch slide is intended to help
prospective clients understand our services and what they can anticipate from our
organisation. This also include the three type of our service which is easy to sell, primary and
high-end service.

16
Figure 10: Business Development Meeting

3.2.5 Market Research

In this phase of my training, Mrs. Syafiqah introduced me to the market research process.
Market research is a systematic attempt to collect information on target markets and
customers, beginning with their identities. It is an essential element of corporate strategy and a
crucial rolein sustaining competitiveness. I was tasked on data collection involves studying
the methods, technologies, and trends related to gathering information from various sources
for analysis and decision-making purposes.

Here's a summary of key points from market research on data collection that I’ve
learnt. Data collection is essential for informed decision-making, identifying trends,
understanding customer preferences, and improving business processes across industries.
Various methods are used for data collection, such as surveys, observations, and data
collection through extracting data from shopping seller on marketplace. The proliferation of
digital technologies has led to the generation of massive amounts of data, termed of big data.
Effective collection and analysis of big data can provide valuable insights for businesses.
Data collection is accompanied by concerns about privacy and ethics. Striking a balance

17
between gathering useful information and respecting individuals' privacy rights is crucial.
Market research firms specialize in collecting and analysing data to help companies
understand their target audiences, competition, and market trends. Companies rely heavily on
data collection to improve their products and services, personalize user experiences, and
predict future trends. Despite its benefits, data collection faces challenges like data quality
assurance, data security, and the potential for biased results due to the methods used.

In summary, market research on data collection highlights its pivotal role in

understanding various aspects of industries and society. The combination of evolving
technology, ethical considerations, and regulatory frameworks shapes the way data is
collected, managed, and utilized to drive informed decision-making and innovation.

Figure 11: Extract Data from TiktokShop Seller Center

18
3.2.6 Customer Relation

For this part of my training, I was given the task to generate a report of Offline Vendor
Project. Effective customer relations in the context of offline vendors involve building strong
connections with customers through personalized interactions, exceptional service, and a
focus on customer satisfaction. Offline vendors, who operate without an online platform, rely
heavily on face-to-face interactions and direct engagement.

To consider for successful customer relations, offline vendors have the advantage of
interacting with customers in person. Utilize this opportunity to understand their needs,
preferences, and concerns. Remembering names and previous interactions can go a long way
in making customers feel valued and recognized. Providing excellent customer service is
paramount. Train staff to be courteous, attentive, and knowledgeable about the products or
services. Address customer inquiries and issues promptly and professionally. Trust is a
cornerstone of offline customer relations. Consistently deliver quality products or services,
and be transparent about pricing, policies, and any relevant information. Trust fosters loyalty
and encourages repeat business.

Foster a relationship that goes beyond mere transactions. Engage customers in

conversations, showing genuine interest in their lives and experiences. This personal touch
helps create lasting connections. Challenges can arise, but how they are handled sets the tone
for customer relations. Address complaints or concerns swiftly and effectively, aiming to
provide solutions that leave the customer satisfied. Implement loyalty programs to reward
repeat customers. This can include discounts, exclusive offers, or membership perks. Such
initiatives incentivize customers to choose your business over competitors.

Being part of the local community can significantly impact customer relations.
Participate in community events, support local causes, and demonstrate your commitment to
the area you serve. Regularly train and develop me to ensure they are equipped with the skills
and knowledge to provide outstanding customer service. Their interactions directly influence
customer perceptions. Consistency in service, product quality, and overall experience is key.
Customers should feel confident that each visit will meet their expectations. Offline vendors
need to adapt to changing customer preferences and market trends. Embrace new technologies
or strategies when appropriate to enhance the customer experience.
19
In summary, I was given the responsibility to present about offline vendors that can
excel in customer relations by prioritizing personalized interactions, delivering exceptional
service, building trust, and fostering loyalty. By creating a welcoming and customer-centric
environment, offline vendors can establish strong relationships that drive business success.
Furthermore, I also involve in the meetings regarding content direction and advertising
policies with our clients. The purpose of the meeting re to educate them about the content
direction of their marketing content.

20
CHAPTER 4: CONCLUSION

In conclusion, my industrial training experience has been both enlightening and

transformative. Throughout this period, I have had the opportunity to apply theoretical
knowledge gained in my academic pursuits to real-world scenarios, gaining invaluable practical
insights. This training has provided me with a deeper understanding of the industry's operations,
processes, and challenges.

The exposure to various departments and tasks has enabled me to develop a well-
rounded skill set, including technical competencies and soft skills such as teamwork,
communication, and problem-solving. I have been fortunate to work alongside experienced
professionals who have been generous with their guidance and mentorship. Their expertise has
not only enhanced my technical skills but has also provided me with a glimpse into the
professional conduct and ethics that drive success in the industry.

Furthermore, the industrial training experience has exposed me to the importance of

adaptability and innovation in a rapidly evolving business landscape. Witnessing firsthand how
companies strategize, innovate, and optimize resources has been eye-opening, and it has
motivated me to remain curious and open to continuous learning throughout my career.

As I look back on this period, I am confident that the knowledge and experience gained
during my industrial training will serve as a solid foundation as I embark on my professional
journey. I am eager to take these insights and apply them not only to my academic pursuits but
also to future employment opportunities. I am grateful for the chance to bridge the gap between
academia and industry, and I am excited to contribute meaningfully to the field in the years to
come.

In conclusion, this industrial training has been an enriching and transformative chapter
that has prepared me for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. I am thankful for the
experiences, lessons, and relationships forged, and I am enthusiastic about embracing the future
with a newfound perspective and skill set.
