Do you agree or disagree? It is a waste of money for governments to fund space travel
or space explorations.

Today, more and more space research have been conducted. The space exploration is
one of the biggest concerns not only for experts but also for all mankind. Some may say
that government should invest the space exploration since it is necessary for all people
to find the place where they can live in outside of the earth, and because they may know
deeper about the earth from novel views. However, in my opinion, the government
funding for the space research will not bear any fruit. I will discuss the reasons in
support of my view in the following passages.

To begin with, the space research is less likely to be successful no matter how much
money they use. To be specific, the space exploration is the most challenging project of
all other research fields. In fact, many projects have failed in the process of launching
rockets, although the cost of building the rocket is enormous; it costs more than one
billion yen for a launch. Considered the low cost-effectiveness, government should not
largely allocate their limited budgets to these projects.

Second, there has remained many other urgent issues that the government should
address and support funds to solve them. One representative examples is the
environmental issue. As a result of the development of technology, people are
destroying the environment continuously: people have cut down or burned trees for
their agriclutural practices; people have invented motor vehicles which use fossil fuels
and emit CO2 gas, leading to the global warming; and people have generated a vast
amount of wastes, which in turn produces harmful substances to the environment. Most
importantly, these issues have made it necessary to seek other planets to live on.
Therefore, goverment must put more emphasis on other urgent issues.

It is true that space exploration may need to develop and seek other possibility of living
on another planet or understanding the earth from novel knowledge gained from the
results. Unfortunately, however, most of the project have ended up failing. Furthermore,
there are more urgent problems in the world such as the environmetal issue.
