Landayan Annex for the School Year 2021 -2022
to Choose HUMSS Strand

Introduction

HUMSS stands for humanities and social sciences. This strand focuses on the study of
human behavior and societal changes, and analysis of arts, culture, literature, and politics.
Humss subjects include political science, anthropology, linguistics, psychology, and
communication. HUMSS strand is that your speaking skills will enhance and this strand you can
build and boost your self confidence. Many of the teenagers are lack in communication and
become introvert. HUMSS strand is designed what is on the other of the wall. In another words
you are ready to take the world and talk a lot of people. The courses are under HUMSS strand
are; Psychology, Philosophy, Political science, International studies, Languages (English and
Tagalog), Communications, and Literature. And this are possible careers in humss strand;
Military officer, Lawyer, College professor, Freelance writer, Management consultant and etc.

The researcher claim that choosing the wrong strand can be controlled by raising
students' knowledge, understanding, and exposure to concerns that may put them in a difficult
situation when it could be avoided.

As a result, more study is needed to determine the factors that influence HUMSS
Senior high school students in choosing HUMSS Strand. Thus, the goal of this study is to find
out what factors (external, internal) impacts students' decision making in San Pedro Relocation
Center National High School - Landayan Annex, as well as which dominating factors influence
them.
Statement of the Problem

In this study, the researcher proposes to examine the factors that influence HUMSS
students of San Pedro Relocation Center National High School - Landayan Annex in choosing
HUMSS strand.

Specifically, the researcher sought answers to the following questions:

1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of;

1.1. Age

1.2. Gender

2. How did choosing HUMSS strand negatively and positively affect the senior high school
students from SPRCNHS - Landayan Annex?
3. Is family the biggest factor that influences senior high school students in SPRCNHS -
Landayan Annex, if not what is it?

Significance of the Study

a. Incoming SHS students - the incoming SHS students will be the primary beneficiary of
this study as it focuses on the factors that influence HUMSS students of San Pedro
Relocation Center National High School - Landayan Annex for the School year 2021 -
2022 to choose HUMSS strand. They will benefit from this research since one of the
desired outcomes is for them to be able to have an idea about the HUMSS strand.

b. Future researchers – the study's outcome will be used as a source of information and a
reference. This can also serve as a source of insight for future researchers who want to
perform a study similar to this one, or any other study involving SHS strand.

Scope and Delimitation

This study focuses on the Factors that influence HUMSS students of San Pedro
Relocation Center National High School - Landayan Annex for the School year 2021 - 2022 to
choose HUMSS strand. The study will take place at the San Pedro Relocation Center National
High School - Landayan Annex only, the students outside this school is not included and this
research is limited only to the Senior high school students for the school year 2021 - 2022 that
chooses and enrolled in HUMSS strand. Also, the researcher will only use online surveys
because the face to face interviews and other ways is impossible nowadays.
