Step-by-step
Step 1: Prepare the Pattern and Fabric
Print and cut out the polo collar top pattern according to your desired size. Place
the pattern pieces on the fabric, aligning them with the grainline as indicated.
Pin the pattern pieces to the fabric and carefully cut around them, adding a 1cm
or 0.39 in seam allowance.

Step 2: Sew the Shoulder Seams

Place the front and back pieces with right sides together, aligning the shoulder
seams. Pin the shoulder seams and sew them using a straight stitch, backstitching
at the beginning and end for reinforcement.
Press the shoulder seams open with an iron.

Step 3: Place the placket

On the front bodice neckline, mark a 6”
line 6” at the middle. Mark 1/2 inches
on either side. Mark up 1/2 inch from
1/2” 1/2”
the end and then draw a triangle.

Step-by-step
Keep the placket piece on your bodice, aligning the mark
you have on the placket piece with the one on the side of
the middle line on the bodice. Keep it a little raised – 1/2”.
Mark the end on the placket piece, as drawn on the bodice.
Sew along the line. Do the same with the other placket
piece the same way.
Turn the edge of the placket and cut open the middle line.
Fold the placket edge to the inside so that the placket is 1”
wide from the stitching line.
Fold the other placket the same way. Overlap the plackets
and bring the bottom edge inside through the cut you have
made on the bodice.
Turn the bodice to the wrong side. Get hold of the bottom
edge of the cut and the plakcets ends. Sew them together.
This will nish the bottom edge of your placket.

Step 4: Attach the Collar

Sew the top edge of the placket and bring the placket
right side out. Keep the two collar pieces right sides together and sew along
the outer edge. Pull it right side out. Keep the outer collar down on the neckline
and sew joining the neckline and collar. After sewing, Fold the inner collar edge
1/8” to the inside and sew that also along the neckline edge. Press everything
nicely and fold your collar.
Before nishing up the button band, add your buttonholes.

Step-by-step
Step 5: Attach the sleeves
Then, open the t-shirt so you can see both, front and back bodices. Add the
sleeves to the side of the top. Start pinning from the center of the cap and
shoulder seams to the sides. Then, stitch them together with an overlocking
stitch or zig zag stitch.

Step 6: Sew the Side Seams and Hem

After, adding the sleeves, fold the t-shirt again and stitch the sleeve sides
and the bodice sides together, right sides facing. Then, press the seams at.
Finally, fold the cuffs and the hemline 1 inch to the inside. Press it at.
Now, zig zag the cuffs and hemline. Iron all your top and done!
