KOLKATA: The police have recovered the blood soaked T-shirt of

the first-year Jadavpur University student, who died on August 10
after alleged ragging at Main Hostel. Cops have appealed to court
on Thursday to send it for forensic examination. The blood-soaked
T-shirt can be a crucial evidence, said cops. The accused have
claimed that the T-shirt was used to stop the blood from oozing
out.
A total of 25 students of Jadavpur University Main Hostel have
recorded their statements with police about what transpired
there on the night of August 9, the cops informed a local court on
Thursday. Public prosecutor Sourin Ghosal said: "Those arrested
are meritorious but have the heart of a criminal (given how they
tried to cover up evidence)."

The three JU students - Satyabrata Rai, a fourth-year computer science engineering student, Himangshu
Karmakar, a postgraduate in Mathematics and Sk Nasim Akhtar, a postgraduate in chemistry - who were arrested
earlier were produced in court on Thursday. They have been sent to judicial custody till September 8.
