 MY APPROACH TO TEACHING AND LEARNING

My Approach to “Teaching and Learning”

According to me, teaching is an art because it is an individual’s unique style of making the
subject learn what the teacher intends to. The teaching becomes more artistic if the teacher
imparts lucidity in it to make the subject/concepts easily understandable to the students. The
teaching should be full of examples and illustrations which helps the students to understand
the concept in depth. This practical way of teaching helps the students to trace the subject in
a better way at the first instance and helping to retain the information for a longer period. The
teacher should also make an effort to bring out the individual differences in learning
capabilities in students which help him to adopt a differential approach in teaching catering to
both slow and fast learners. After adopting a differential approach in teaching, students
should be recognized for their talents, both overt and covert and giving them continuous
positive reinforcement through applauds and rewards. Even a good feedback to the students
at right time also helps them to learn better. Often student should be made comfortable by
creating a conducive and friendly environment in the classes which acts as a podium for them
to display even their latent abilities which otherwise is difficult to recognize. For learning to be
a continuous process, the teacher should encourage his students to read more and more books,
helping them update the knowledge of the subject along with the infusion of the subject with
the latest happenings around the world. Teacher should always try to motivate the students to
learn new things and think rationally in order to bring an element of creativity in them. Apart
from that teacher should always try to establish a good relationship with his students which
are possible if he studies’ nature, emotional development, and specific abilities etc. At the end I
would like to say that teaching should always be a lively, interactive exercise making the
students feels enthusiastic about the subject without any feeling of boredom and monotony.
