INSTRUCTIONS

MYSTERIOUS STORIES FOR:

CLASS ACTIVITY GROUP WORK PAIR WORK
Black mysteries are tricky, morbid, macabre stories. This activity is best played if you divide students to small groups or into pairs.
There is always one student in a group who tells the story. The other students in the group are trying to guess what exactly happened
in the story.

The student who tells the story reads the story aloud for the other students. He reads the solution on the other card (or the other side)
quietly so the other students do not hear it or do not see it. Their task is to guess exactly what happened in the story. They can only
ask yes and no questions (e.g. Was it dark when it happened?). The student who tells the story is not allowed to answer different types
of questions (e.g. Why did it happen? or Did it happen during the night or during the day?). He has to insist on on the question being
reworded.

There is only one correct solution printed on the other card (or on the other side).

The students who are guessing should listen attentively – each single word can be a clue, or it can be used to sidetrack them.

There are two cards for each story – one with the story and the other with the solution to the story. You can keep it as two cards or glue
them together to create one card that will have the story on one side, and the solution on the other. Just make sure that the students do
not see the solution side of the story (it is to be seen only by the student who tells the story). It is up to you if you allow the student who
tells the story to show the story to the students who are trying to guess – he can only read the story to them once or twice, however if
the students are more visually orientated they may need to see the story and read it themselves.
