which means human, cultured, refined. They are branches of
learning based on the philosophy and ethical perspective of
humanism, which emphasizes the value and agency of human
beings, individually and collectively, and generally prefers
individual thought and evidence over established doctrine or
faith.

Humanities makes us more human. By studying what other


men and women have believed, created, and understood to
become better human beings. We can learn more about
ourselves, about other people and about the world around us.

others.
