Date : August 15, 2023

One of the missions and objectives of PASUC is to champion excellence in the services
provided by its State Universities and Colleges (SUC) members, in view to ensure the
fulfillment of their mandate of providing access to quality higher education. As part of the
Sports Development Programs for student-athletes and coaches, and in preparation for the
2023 National SCUAA Games, PASUC through the SCUAA Management Committee, is
organizing a 3-day Advanced Sports Clinic for SUCs.

Our vision positions SUCs at the forefront of sports advancement and promotion. This sports
clinic is designed to deepen the understanding of the crucial role coaches play. They are
instrumental not just in honing athletes' skills and talents but, more importantly, in molding
their dreams and their futures. It is our responsibility to equip our coaches with the necessary
tools and training to optimize their roles in fostering sport participation and elevating the
performance of both individual athletes and teams.

Furthering this commitment, PASUC presents the Advanced Sports Clinic themed
“Empowering Sports Leaders and Coaches for Ball Games, Individual/Dual
Games, and Racket Games through Kinesiology Sports Taping Mastery”. This
activity is scheduled on September 6 to 8, 2023, and will be held at Pampanga State
Agricultural University (PSAU), Magalang, Pampanga.

In line with this, we are inviting the SUC Sports Directors, Coaches, and Trainers of
Ball Games, Individual/Dual Games, and Racket Games to participate.

This is a live-out event and a registration fee of PhP6,000.00 per participant shall be charged

PASUC ADVANCE SPORTS CLINIC:

“Empowering Sports Leaders and Coaches for Ball Games, Individual/Dual
Games, and Racket Games through Kinesiology Sports Taping Mastery”

Coaches play a central role in promoting sport participation and enhancing the
performance of athletes and teams. In accordance with internationally recognized and
domestic sporting codes, coaches guide the participation of children, players and athletes.
In nearly 200 countries millions of volunteer and paid coaches deliver an array of sporting
opportunities to hundreds of millions of participants. In addition to their core role, coaches
contribute to the development of athletes as people, teams as cohesive units and
communities with a shared interest.

Coaching also can contribute to social aims by promoting activity and health;
coalescing citizens behind a common entity; and generating economic activity through
employment, education, purchase of equipment, use of facilities and attendance at
events.

Coaching is in its most dynamic era in history. Coaches work with increasingly
diverse populations and face heightening demands from their athletes, their athletes’
parents, administrators and fans. Coaches are required to fulfill a variety of roles that
may include educator, guide, sports psychologist and business manager.

The professional area has placed a new emphasis on positive interaction and
overall development of athletes rather than simply the win–loss record.

There is greater accessibility to information and visibility to a larger community in

the digital age. All of these factors make coaching both more exciting and taxing than
ever before.

In this context, coaches have a responsibility to improve and expand their own
capabilities on an ongoing basis to fully meet the needs of the athletes they serve. The
organizations that employ them owe it to coaches to ensure they have sufficient
educational footing, philosophical orientation and resources to fulfill the duties expected
of them.

With Educational Institutions, particularly State Universities and Colleges, as the

primary vehicle for Sports promotion and development for both athletes and coaches, the
PHILLIPINE ASSOCIATION OF STATE UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES (PASUC)
through the SCUAA Games Management Committee is proposing to hold a 3-day
Advance Sports Clinic, in its bid to promote comprehensive development and
understanding on the important roles of coaches in shaping not only the skills of the
athletes in sports but its most important role of shaping the lives and future of the
athletes.
