Go Online
• Examples:
• People writing about themselves
• Others writing about them
• Signatures and slogans
• Forced phrases, words that appear together
• Status updates and blog posts
• Conferences and other ad-hoc “groups”
• Fill-in-the-blank search
• Alternative content
 • What significant phrases relate directly to DOING the job?
• Look for Action verbs (what do they do? "I ___ ___ for ___")

What I Do • People referring to themselves in the first person

• I’m, I am, we are, our people, our staff, our team…
• Followed by a verb or action word like "developed applications"
"wrote code" "a business analyst" "at Lockheed" "exceeded quota"
Useful Info Inside Spreadsheets and PowerPoint

Search for titles, companies, phone, or email formats

• filetype:ppt "contact me" @kpmg.com
• filetype:xls alumni|attendee *@ibm.com
• filetype:xls accountant telephone|phone e-mail|email
 In Google the * is a wildcard meaning "any word"

Using * inside a phrase finds three+ word variations

Fill in Eg. "SAP * Consultant"

SAP FICO Consultant
SAP ABAP Consultant

the blank SAP PM Consultant, and so on…

Works with two or more "SAP * * consultant“

"fill in the blanks" together: Note the space between each *

Works without "quotation marks" but better with

First person or Followed by a unique job title, verb or other keyword
self-reference Look in blogs, discussion lists, forums, social networks
