1. DEFINE POLICE PATROL
 Police patrol is an operation wherein patrol officers conduct
preliminary investigations and document criminal incidents, police
and intelligence information, lost or found property, breaches of
security and sensitive information, motor vehicle accidents, and
injured persons.

2. WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF POLICE PATROL?


 Patrol came from the word “PATROUILLER which means rough by, or
to travel by foot.
 The history of patrol is as old as organized society. Men have always
needed protection, first from animals, and then his own kind. His first
attempt is to protect himself and his family which involves
barricading the entrance to his cave.

3. WHAT ARE THE SIGNIFICANCE OF POLICE PATROL?


Police Patrol is important because:
A. It is considered as “The Backbone of Police Organization”, since it is
the largest element in the police organization, and has a direct impact
towards the citizens;
B. It is also considered as “The Essence of Police Function” , because it is
the only police service that directly attempts to eliminate the desire
and opportunity to commit crime;
C. And lastly, it is also the “ Operational Heart of Police Organization”,
because the patrol force incorporates all objectives inherent in the
police organization.

4. WHAT ARE THE BASIC PURPOSE OF POLICE PATROL?


a. Crime prevention and suppression;
b. Crime investigation (preliminary investigation);
c. Law enforcement;
d. Maintain social order;
e. Police service
