Name: Menna Ayman Report writing

Date: 11/12/22 “What are the impacts of social media?”

This report aims to know if social media has a considerable effect on

people and if teenagers feel addicted to it .Some of the results were
expected, but on the other hand, other results were less predictable.
The number of students is 17
The age range for this report is 12-15 years old.

The majority of teens use technology but have some other daily
activities and hobbies so they might not use it the whole day.
More than half believe that they might be missing out if they last long
with no social media but believe that this won’t have a massive affect
on their daily life.

More than half don’t share any personal info on the social media, which
doesn’t expose them to any risks.

Most people believe that social media has affected them positively as it
acts as a source of entertainment and education as well and negatively
as it might act as a source of distraction from their duties.
As explained in the previous question, most people believe that social
media can sometimes be a distraction, but they can somehow control
it.

Almost half of people can last for 1 week without social media in the
vacations which is an average amount time.
Most people don’t depend on social media for doing their assignments,
but I think it’s acceptable to use it as it allows you to gain more
information on a particular topic and enhance your vocabulary and
skills.

More than half of teens believe that social media has no effect on their
academic progress, but 35% believe that it might push them forward to
studies or it might distract them as well.
The majority of teenagers believe that social media can persuade them
to buy a viral product which might be a bit risky as not all of the online
products are not the same as shown , but if the person or the website
they are following is trustworthy then it would be beneficial for them.

Can social media affect your mood? and in which way?

Most of the answers indicate that it can affect their mood depending
on what type of videos they watch.

If there was no social media do you think you would have found many
alternatives to spend your free time?
The majority agree and claim that they have many hobbies and
alternatives to social media. Only some disagree and believe that social
media is their focal point of the day.

So, to sum up my results, I believe that teenagers use tech regularly as

a source of entertainment, and they do believe that it might act as a
source of distraction to their achievements, but sometimes it can be
beneficial for buying products and educational purposes as well.
