2. Kinds/types of tropical cyclone
3. Condition in the environment before, during
And after a cyclone
4.Classification of the tropical cyclones by inter-
National agreement
B. EXPLORATION

ACTIVITY 1 GROUP1
Show picture and define a tropical cyclone
ACTIVITY 2
What is the condition of the environment
Before ,during and after a cyclone?
What can you say about a cyclone? Tropical cyclone Cyclone formed
ACTIVITY 3 A tropical cyclone is a rapidly rotating
Show picture and describe hurricane formation storm system characterized by low-
How cyclone formed? pressure center,a close low-level
Describe each kinds/types atmospheric circulation, strong winds
What conclusion can you make base on the and a spiral arrangement of a thunder-
storm that produce heavy rain and/ or
squalls.
Cyclones form in low- pressure zones
over warm intertropical seas.

GROUP2
Different kinds/types of cyclone
*Topical Depression: a tropical cyclone with
maximum sustained winds of 38 mph or less.
*Topical Storm: a tropical cyclone with
maximum sustained winds of 39-73mph.
*Hurricane: a tropical cyclone with ma-
ximum winds greater than 74mph.
*Major hurricane: a tropical cyclone with
Maximum winds greater than 111mph.
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY PUPIL’S ACTIVITY
The classificatio of tropical cyclones by inter-
national agreement
TROPICAL CYCLONE INTENSITY

Tropical depression Winds up to 63km/hr

Tropical storm Wind up to 64-118km/hr

Typhoon Winds more than

118km/hr
GROUP 3
Conditions of the environment before,during
and after cyclones

* there is a drop in air pressure

Before * there are tall clouds
*air is colder and dry
*the weather looks good

*strong winds around

During *heavy rains
*calm within the eye of storm
*big waves in the sea

*speed of winds decreases

After *rains
*flooding
*damage plants and structure
*outbreak of diseases

-Meteorologists have divided the development of
a tropical cyclone into four stages: the tropical
disturbance, tropical depression, tropical storm
and full-fledged tropical cyclone.
1.Tropical disturbance: when the water vapor
From the warm ocean condenses to form clouds
It releases its heat to the air
2. Tropical depression: as the thunderstorm
Grows higher and larger, the air at the top of
The cloud column is cooling and becoming
Unstable.

3.Tropical storm: when the winds speed s

reach 39 mph,the tropical depression be-
come tropical storm.
4. Hurricane: when the winds speeds reach 74
Mph, the storm is officially a hurricane.
D. ELABORATION
-Why it is important to study the
Tropical cyclone? -because its play important roles in the ocean
circulation patterns that transport heat and
maintain the climate of north America and
Europe.
-tropical cyclone, also called typhoon
or hurricane, intense over warm
tropical oceans and its characterized by
low atmospheric pressure, high winds

and heavy rains.

-What you should do before, during
And after a cyclone. SAFETY PRECAUTION(BEFORE)
*Prepare with disaster supplies such as flash-
Light and extra batteries, candle ,first aid kit
and manual, emergency dry food items and
drinking water , essential medicine , cash and
credit cards and sturdy shoes.
SAFETY PRECAUTION (DURING)
*Listen to the radio or tv information
* secure your home
*Turn off utilities if instructed to do so.
*move to evacuation center if it is safe to move
*if you are unable to evacuate, go to your safe
room.
*stay indoors during the hurricane and away
from windows and glass doors.
*close all interior doors-secure and brace exter
-nal doors.
*take shelter in a small interior room closet, or
Hallway on the on the lowest level.
*lie on the floor under a table or another
Sturdy object.
SAFETY PRECAUTION(AFTER)
*don’t go outside until officially advised
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY PUPIL’S ACTIVITY
advise it is safe.
*cheack your gas leaks
*listen to the local radio for officially
Warning and advised.
*beware of damaged power lines, brid-
ges buildings, trees and don’t enter flood
water .
* heed all warnings and don’t go sight seing
Check/help neighbours instead.
The effect o tropical cyclones include heavy
rain, strong winds, large storm surge near
landfall ,and tornado. The destruction from a
tropical cyclone, such as a hurricane or
tropical storm, depends mainly on its inten-
sity ,its size, and its location. Tropical cyclone
remove forest canopy as well as change the
landscape near coustal areas, by moving
and reshaping sand dunes and causing extenten-
sive erosion along the coast. Even well in land
slide in mountainous areas. Their effects can
be sensed over time by studying the concen-
tration of oxygen-18 isotope within cares
Areas affected by cyclones
1.north atlantic ocean
2.the eastern and western parts of the north
pacific ocean.
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY PUPIL’S ACTIVITY
3. the southwestern pacific ,the southwestern
and southern indian ocean (arianbian sea and
bay of bengal
