Slide 2-3: so, let’s discuss the arrival of the greatest Filipino hero and
peerless genius, Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado Y Alonzo also known as
Jose Rizal or by his nickname “Pepe” into this world. Historically,
Jose Rizal was born on June 19, 1861. He is born in Calamba,
province of Laguna. After that, Rizal is baptized, June 22, 1861. He
was baptized by Father Rufino Collantes in the Catholic of Calamba
with Father Pedro Cansañas as his godfather. Also, when rizal
was born, lieutenant-general Jose Lemery is the governor
general of the Philippines. Jose Rizal has 10 siblings; Lucia
Rizal is married to Mariano Herbosa. He was accused that he
urges people not to pay taxes for their land that caused
trouble and died because of cholera. Mariano has not given a
Christian burial because he is married to one of Rizal’s
siblings.
slide na next: now, let’s talk about our national hero’s parents. His parents are Francisco Mercado Rizal
and Teodora Alonzo Realonda. Francisco Engracio Rizal Mercado y Alejandra II was born on May 11, 1818
in Biñan, Laguna. He is the youngest child of the 13 children of Cirila Alejandro and Juan
Mercado and was married to Teodora on June 28, 1848. In the other hand, Teodora Morales
Alonzo Realonda y Quintos was born on November 9, 1827. She went to College of Sta. Rosa
and Rizal’s first teacher back in Laguna before Rizal study medicine in Spain at the Universidad
Central de Madrid. Teodora is also the second child of Lorenzo Alonso and Brigada de Quintos.
