2nd STATE OF the NATION ADDRESS (2023) OF PRESIDENT FERDINAND

(BONGBONG) R. MARCOS, JR.

During his presidency, President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. made

important contributions to Philippine history with his 8-Point
Agenda and State of the Nation Address (SONA). It is crucial for
a responsible citizen to critically consider these measures in
order to understand how they will affect the country and society.
With this paper, I will be evaluating President Marcos' 8-Point
Agenda and SONA last July 24, 2023, looking at both their
advantages and the problems of his regime.

During his SONA, he mentioned most of the points that made me

ponder his goals and initiative for the development of the country
and its effect in the society presently and to the future. As a
government employee under Department Health, Covid 19 pandemic had
been a crisis that brought intense effect to the lives of the
Filipino, not only to the health workers but especially to the
community. When President Marcos mentioned his goal for achieving
Universal Healthcare services, it brought me hope for a better
future in our healthcare system, since our visions here in the
facility aligns with his, it is good to hear that the pandemic
although provided negativity, it did serve its purpose as a wake-
up call to the government. With that kind of mindset from a leader,
I suppose this country really will have a good change, a progress,
and services that it deserves.

In conclusion, President Marcos' 8-Point Agenda and State of

the Nation Address reflected the government's aspirations to
address various aspects of Philippine society. As a citizen, we
can collectively strive to build a more inclusive, democratic, and
just society. It is essential to uphold the principles of
transparency, accountability, and respect for human rights to
ensure that the mistakes of the past are not repeated, and the
Philippines can move forward towards a brighter future.
