Standards and principle in performing measurements and calculation.

2. Performance The learners shall be able to perform accurate measurements

Standards and calculation based on given task.
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

1. Explain English system of measurement;

3. Learning 2. Convert English system to metric system from smaller to

III. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing A. Review of the Past Lesson
previous Directions:
lesson or I. Give the abbreviation in the following units.
presenting the 1. Decameter
new lesson 2. Hectometer
3. Centimeter
4. Kilometer
5. Millimeter
6. Decimeter

B. Motivation:

Directions: Give the answer to the following questions.

1. Vernon is asked by his uncle to measure their door and

give him the measurement in feet. However, Vernon only
got a 12-inch rule to measure their door, how can he
change inches to feet?
2. Felip rolled up 128 meters of wire and his mom asked him
to convert it from meter to inches. How many inches are
there in meters?

B. Establishing a
purpose for the The teacher will ask the learners the following questions:
lesson
1. What do you think our activity is all about?

Possible Answers: converting units, conversion of

measurement

2. Do you have an idea of what could be the lesson for today?

Possible Answers: Yes or No

If yes, the students may answer what they think the lesson
for today is.

If they answer Conversion of measurements, the teacher may

add a follow up question on when they have learned or
encounter about it.
The students will answer that they have learned and encounter
it from the past lesson.

If No, the teacher will introduce the lesson to the students.

C. Presenting
examples/ instances The teacher will show English Conversion Table and the formula
of the new lesson used in converting English system.

a. The teacher will ask the learners if they are familiar with
this units and where they can normally see it?
Possible Answer: Yes, it is English system. We normally see it in
measuring tools.

The teacher will state that the topic is all about English
System of Measurement and the linear graph represents the
conversion from smallest to highest unit and highest to smallest
unit.

b. The teacher will ask the learners if they know the

importance of knowing the conversion of English system
to metric system and vice versa.

Possible Answer:

If Yes, the learners will answer, it helps us to be flexible on

using measurement units either metric or English system.

If No, the teacher will give importance of knowing the conversion

of metric to English.

c. The teacher will ask the learner where they can possibly
use the conversion of metric to English system.

Answers may vary.

D. Discussing new The teacher then will start the discussion by showing the
concepts and formulas used in converting English system. The teacher will
practicing new skills give example to each formula and conversion.

a. 10 ft = _____ inches
b. 72 inches = _____ feet
c. 3 ft = __________ meter

The teacher will show examples how to convert units from

English to metric and vice versa, then higher unit to smaller
unit and vice versa.
F. Developing The teacher will show students flash cards and the students will
Mastery identify its equivalent.
G. Finding practical
applications of Group Activity:
concepts and skills
in daily living Mechanics: The class will be divided into 4 groups. Each group
will be given a topic to discuss in front of the class.

A. English System
B. Metric System
C. Conversion from English to Metric
D. Conversion from Metric to English
H. Making The teacher will ask the following questions:
generalizations and
abstractions about 1. What is English System?
the lesson Possible Answer: measurement system, units of measurements

2. What is the important purpose of knowing conversion of

metric to English System?

Possible Answer: help us to be flexible on using measurement

units either English or metric system.

1. Do now understand how to convert higher units to

smaller units and vice versa?

Possible Answer: Yes or No.

I. Evaluating Directions: Convert the following linear measurements.

Learning
1. 4 feet = _________ meter
2. 10 meter = ________ inches
3. 36 inches =________ feet
4. 120 feet = ________ inches
5. 6 feet = ________ yards
