Disaster Response and Rehabilitation: Relief Good for Mangyan People

For the indigenous Mangyan people of Oriental Mindoro, heavy rains are especially
devastating. Flooding not only brings damage to homes and farmlands, it also cuts off
residents from accessing the lowlands where they make their living.

Communities, especially those in isolated barangays, called for help following the heavy
flooding that hit the province in mid-January.

Ayala Foundation, together with Ayala Coop Official Account, led #BrigadangAyala’s
efforts to deliver relief aid to 800 families affected in the municipalities of Baco and
Naujan. The goods were turned over on February 2 and 3 in coordination with the
Provincial Disaster Risk Response and Management Office and the Office of Governor

Part III. Reflection

development and growth. They believe that nation-building activities such as these will
ultimately help the long-term growth prospects of the family conglomerate. Strong
partnerships, as the event suggested, resulted in many strongly intertwined lives, all
working toward nurturing communities that are productive, creative, self-reliant, and
proud to be Filipino.
The projects or community extension that they implement has a great help for all the
Mangyan people it’s a great privilege that Ayala Foundation sees the problems of those
citizen. These are one of the common help to those suffered disaster but it’s the major
solution that Ayala Foundation work for it, a helping hand for all, it’s a far away land but
Ayala take an action about this because they want to contribute something that
everyone needs like relief gods etc. of Mangyan people , small things matter at all!

Ayala Foundation and U-Go award scholarships to Filipino youth

The U-Go scholar grant provides financial assistance for high-achieving, motivated
Filipino women currently enrolled at state colleges and universities, with the aim of
helping keep them in school to finish their degrees and increasing their participation in
the labor market, while also opening up opportunities for improved income and
professional fulfillment. Ayala Foundation, the social development arm of the Ayala
group of companies, administers the scholarship and manages its implementation.

The U-Go Scholar Grant aims to help young women from economically disadvantaged
backgrounds to pursue higher education. A partnership between education start-up U-
Go and Ayala Foundation, the program hopes to provide scholarships to the initial class
of 75-100 and expand to at least 1,000 recipients in the medium term.

The Philippines is the seventh country where U-Go operates, following Bangladesh,
Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam.
Scholarship made up of the Ayala and U-go programs is a great opportunity, a
significant support to help low-income students on the path toward college completion
and to give them the chance to build financially sustainable and fulfilling futures.
Scholarships Impact can go from reducing the financial burden of the rising costs of a
college education to allowing students to find more time and energy to focus on studies
rather than part-time work, scholarships are one piece in the puzzle of what creates a
strong foundation for supporting students in their success. This projects has a fruitful
outcome of all the students, they are part of the journey of success!
