REVIEWER (Physical Science)

1. Heliocentric
– Having or representing the sun as the center, as in the accepted astronomical model
of the solar system.

2. Geocentric
– Having or representing the earth as the center, as in former astronomical systems.

3. Diurnal Motion
– The apparent daily motion of the heavens from east to west in which celestial objects
seem to rise and set, a phenomenon that results from the earth's rotation from west to
east.

4. Annual Motion
– The apparent yearly movement of the stars as observed from earth as a direct effect
of the earth's revolution around the sun.

5. Three (3) Newtonian Laws

A. 1st Law - An object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will stay in
motion at constant velocity, unless acted upon by an unknown force.

B. 2nd Law - Force equals mass times acceleration.

C. 3rd Law - For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

6. Equinox
– The time or date (twice each year) at which the sun crosses the celestial equator,
when day and night are at approximately equal length (about September 22 and
March 20).

7. Kepler's Model of the Universe

– The orbit of each of the planets is an ellipse, with the sun at one focus.

8. Coloumb's Law
– The electric force for charges at rest has the following properties:
– Like charges repel each other
– Unlike charges attract
9. Electromagnetism
– The interaction of electric currents or fields and magnetic fields.
