Travelling to Australia
It is crucial that you have enough funds to support yourself and your family (if
applicable) for the first 6-8 weeks of arriving into Australia. We suggest a minimum of
AUD$3,000 to get you through to your first pay check.

As a Chef its recommended you bring to Australia a uniform, knives and the other tools
of your trade (i.e. Pastry Chefs need to bring things such as moulds, silicon mats, roller,
scrapers, pastry bag etc. Your new employer will expect that you are ready to start work
once you have your first roster (note that knives must be carried on your checked
luggage, never in your carry-on).

Accommodation
When looking for a place to live in Australia, you will need to consider several factors,
including distance from work, transportation, local services etc.
The best option for accommodation is renting. It is very likely, to secure a rental
property, that you will need to pay the first month’s rent in advance plus a security
deposit or bond (this is also normally equivalent to the first month’s rent)

We would strongly suggest asking your employer and work colleagues for assistance
finding accommodation. They might be able to refer you to someone in the local area
looking for tenants or even have a spare room themselves.
