SERVICE FOR THE LORDS DAY October 2, 2011 ORGAN PRELUDE Take Up Your Cross WORDS OF WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS CHORAL INTROIT Come Now Is the Time to Worship Praise Band *CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: Today we gather with Christians near and far to sit together at Gods table. People: Together we will eat the bread of life and drink the cup of salvation. Leader: God prepares the table with room enough for everyone. All: We give praise to God, who invites us all to feast. *HYMN #657G He Has Made Me Glad *HYMN #653G I Will Call upon the Lord *PRAYER OF CONFESSION Lord, you are our rock and our redeemer. Yet we deny our need of you. You make us stewards of a wonderful world. We call it our own and misuse it. You give laws to enhance our life. We see them as burdens tying us down. You bid us to take confidence in your love. We put stock in our accomplishments. Have mercy on us, Lord. Have mercy. Open our minds to know your truth, our hearts to rejoice in your commands, and our eyes to see the goal you set before us. *MOMENTS FOR SILENT, PERSONAL CONFESSION *ASSURANCE OF PARDON *AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Nicene Creed (insert) *GLORIA PATRI (back cover of bulletin) Lewis
