Computers are “electronic brains” that grew out of the early tabulating, calculating and teletype machines. Even though these “giant brains”
can´t think, they can read, write and calculate at the speed of light. They have tenacious “memories” and they can learn by experience.
Computers have opened scientific possibilities that were unthinkable before. They can be programmed to do list almost any mental work
that a human can perfom. These wonderful machines have come into wide use to spell out miracles that touch the lives of all people.
Because of its widespread use, the computer industry has become one of the largest industries in the USA.  The computer industry is
formed by companies that manufacture, sell and lease computers.
Modern computers may be either small and compact or large and more sophisticated, according to their purpose. A computer has four
essential parts: The input unit, into which information is fedinto the system and converted into electronic for. The storage unit where
information and processing instructions are stored in an electronis memory. The central processing unit where all calculations are made.
The output unit which gives the result to the operator either in words or in a code-form which can be changed into the information needed.
Men who created computers, thrilled by the power of their genie, like to speculate on the tremendus promise they hold for human
advancement. But what is foreseeable is that computers will make it posible to create entirely new products and industries which will
signify a major source of employment in the coming decades.
No one can foretell what the future holds, but undoubtedly, from here on, many of our inquires about it will be answered at the speed of light.
