Vocabulary (3 mins)
fair /fer/
a large show at which people who work in a particular
industry meet, and sell and advertise their products

e.g. When he got bored he wandered around the
book fair.

illustrator /ˈɪləstreɪtər/
a person who draws pictures, especially for books

Dialog (4 mins)
Role-play the dialog with your teacher twice, and learn the highlighted expressions by heart.

Ryan: I’m so excited about tomorrow! The comic book fair (漫画书展) is going to be much
bigger than last year’s, and there will be a lot of authors and illustrators that we can meet.
Albert: I think it will be great, too. I’m hoping to meet the creator of my favorite anime (动
漫), Naruto(《火影忍者》). I want to get his autograph, so I have brought many copies of
his comic books.
Ryan: If you’re going to do that, you’ll have to line up early. Once the fair is crowded with
people, you might not even get a number to get your books signed.
Albert: Trust me. I plan to be at the fair’s entrance (入口) at the break of dawn.
TI: Take turns to play both characters. Emphasize and repeat the highlighted expressions.

Hong Kong Book Fair


The first Hong Kong Book Fair was held in 1990,
and it has become an annual (一年一度的)
major event in Hong Kong with the number of
visitors reaching new high (创新高) every year.
Apart from extensively (广泛地) inviting people
to visit and buy books, it also spares no effort in
organizing diversified (多样化的) activities
during the Book Fair period, with a view to
improving the quality of the Fair.
