2. Working alone, Dan can sweep a porch in 15 minutes. Alberto can sweep the same porch in 11
minutes. If they worked together how long would it take them?

Interest Problems:

1. John deposited a certain amount of money at 6% simple interest. If after 3 years, he has P29,500
in the bank, what was his initial deposit?
2. Jodi owes $38,000 in student’s loans for college. The interest rate is 7.25% and the loan will be
paid off over 10 years. How much will Jodi pay altogether?

Age Problems:

1. Marge is twice as old as Consuelo. The sum of their ages seven years ago was 13. How old are
they now?
2. A sofa is 12 years old and a table is 36 years old. In how many years will the table be twice as old
as the sofa?
