ASSESSMENT: Appropriation Artwork

The original image is all about the Marvel superhero icon, Spider Man, which was
created by Nic Artistic, a famous portrait artist in YouTube. The type of medium used are
colored pencils, Prisma color markers and a board paper. I appropriate this artwork by
using a sketch pad, pencils, and markers only to make it look like in a black and white
design. I captured it with low lights to highlight the mood I want to create. The meaning I
intend to construct in this artwork is to concentrate on the way light and shadow fall across
the surface of a figure. The color in an artwork gives life and highlights to it but in the
absence of it, only here you could experiment its form, texture, mark making, and symbolic
meaning. As I finished this activity, I realized that color and highlights in art is very
significant in giving life and meaning to it. The monochrome effect could explore more
about how it will be constructed and delivered. “As the sun colors flowers, so does art
color life.”
