INS Magar, the oldest Landing Ship Tank, was
decommissioned by the Indian Navy after 36 years
of service at the Naval base in Kochi.

The air force has received its first indigenously designed


and developed loitering munitions. Developed by Tata
Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), the autonomous
system is designed for Vertical Take Off and Landing
(VTOL) and has successfully demonstrated its capability
to carry out precision strikes during trials and tests.

The 35th edition of India-Thailand Coordinated


Patrol (Indo-Thai CORPAT) between the Indian
Navy and the Royal Thai Navy was conducted in
the Andaman Sea.

The first C295 aircraft for India has successfully


completed its inaugural flight, marking a
significant achievement towards its delivery in
the latter half of 2023.
As part of Indian Navy’s deployment to ASEAN
countries, Indian Naval ships Delhi and Satpura reached
Sihanoukville, Cambodia . The port call demonstrates
India’s cordial ties with the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Corvette, arrived at Batam, Indonesia to participate in
the 4th edition of India-Indonesia Bilateral exercise

INS TARKASH and INS SUBHADRA have arrived
at Port Al-Jubail to commence the second edition of
the naval exercise, ‘AL-MOHED AL-HINDI 2023.’

The Gajraj Corps of the Indian Army conducted a joint


flood relief exercise called ‘Jal Rahat’ at Hagrama Bridge
on Manas River in Assam. The purpose of the exercise was
to validate joint drills and enhance coordination among
multiple agencies involved in flood relief operations.

According to a United Nations report titled "The
Billion Dollar Death Trade", India has supplied
arms, dual-use items, and raw materials worth
₹422 crore to the military junta in Myanmar.

India has taken an initiative to aid those affected


by Cyclone Mocha in Myanmar by launching
"Operation Karuna." Indian Naval Ships Shivalik,
Kamorta, and Savitri, arrived in Yangon with
emergency relief materials.

INSV Tarini touched the Indian shores as she entered


Goa harbour and secured alongside the INS Mandovi
jetty on successful completion of a 17000nm trans-ocean
inter-continental voyage, after 188 days.

The Indian Army commemorated the 75th


International Day of UN Peacekeepers by paying

Indian Army’s Sapta Shakti Command conducted the


exercise ‘Sudarshan Shakti 2023’ along Rajasthan’s
western borders. ‘Sudarshan Shakti 2023’ was created
to test operational plans in a network-centric setting.

Indian Army has decided that from 1st August


2023, all officers of the rank of Brigadier and above
will wear Common Uniform items irrespective of
their cadre and appointment, in order to promote
and strengthen common identity and approach.

lounge has been established with the assistance of
National Book Trust (NBT), an Indian publishing

Shri Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the Integrated
Biological Control Laboratory at National Institute of
Plant Health Management (NIPHM) Hyderabad,
Telangana.

Tungnath, located in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, is


not only one of the highest Shiva temples in the world
but also the highest among the five Panch Kedar
temples. Recently, it has been designated as a national
monument.

A tiger was spotted at Kalesar National Park in Haryana


after a gap of 110 years.

The UNESCO World Heritage Centre has recommended


Santiniketan, a cultural site in West Bengal, India, for
inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

At the inauguration of the new Parliament House, PM


Modi established the historical and sacred "Sengol" in
the Parliament House.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made a significant

Recently, the death of a Rare Black Tiger was


reported in the Similipal Tiger Reserve in Odisha.
The abnormally dark or black coat in such tigers
is termed pseudo melanistic or false coloured.

Narco Analysis Test


Protesting wrestlers at Jantar Mantar, Delhi have
expressed their willingness to undergo narco analysis
tests, with the condition that it is monitored by the
Supreme Court and broadcasted live for the entire
country to witness.
In a narco analysis test, a drug called sodium pentothal is injected into
the body of the accused, which transports them to a hypnotic or
sedated state in which their imagination is neutralised.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has


recently introduced new tax rules for online
gaming platforms in India. These rules aim to
bring clarity and establish guidelines for Tax
Deducted at Source (TDS) on winnings
from online gaming.
The First G20 Disaster Risk Reduction Working
Group (DRR WG) meeting under India’s G20
Presidency took place, where India highlighted the
importance of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).

India and Israel signed a MoU on Industrial Research
and Development Cooperation with focus on several
key technology areas. It will enhance partnership in
areas like innovation and StartUps, and usher in a

Travel Market (ATM) 2023, held in Dubai, UAE.
It showcased "Incredible India" and “Visit India
Year 2023” campaign at the event.

India has announced that it will participate in


the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s
(ICAO) Carbon Offsetting and Reduction
Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA)
and the Long-Term Aspirational Goals (LTAG)
from 2027.
The headquarters of ICAO is located in
Montreal, Canada.

The Australian High Commission in India


announced its Government Grant for a project
in Kargil called “Return to Roots.” This project
aims to integrate traditional knowledge with the
current school science curriculum in alignment
with the goals of the National Education Policy,
which includes increasing scientific engagement
among school children of the tribal background.

The UAE government launched the ‘Machines


Can See 2023’ Summit, an international
conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI) held

Cyclone Mocha hit the coastline of Bangladesh and
Myanmar. Yemen suggested the name ‘Mocha’. The
cyclone has been named after a Red Sea port city
known for its coffee production.

Monkeypox is no longer a global public health emergency,
the World Health Organization (WHO) has said, almost a
year after the threat was raised.
Its official name is Mpox and it is caused by the monkeypox
virus, a member of the same family of viruses as smallpox,
although it is much less severe.
India and Canada have agreed to ramp up their
discussions on the movement of skilled professionals
and students to enhance their bilateral economic
partnership. This decision was made during the sixth
India-Canada Ministerial Dialogue on Trade and
Investment.
Gucci, the luxury fashion brand from Italy, has appointed
Alia Bhatt as its first global ambassador from India.

Tropical Cyclone Fabien Moves Southeast of Diego Garcia.

Russia and Iran signed a deal to build the Rasht-


Astara railway, an Iranian railway line, as part of the

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has


approved the world’s RSV vaccine, called Arexvy which will
protect older people as well as adults against respiratory virus.

Ireland is the first country in the European Union (EU)


to ensure that, from 2026, all alcohol products will have
comprehensive labelling about health risks from
consumption, including warnings about the risks of
developing cancers.

with the U.K.

Pakistan became the largest recipient of ADB loans in Asia


in 2022.
Laos is gearing up to host the annual ASEAN Tourism

country’s capital city, Vientiane. The theme for the
forum is “Quality and Responsible Tourism —
Sustaining ASEAN Future,” which reflects the focus on
sustainable and responsible tourism practices.

A 5,000-year-old 'Great Grandfather' tree in Chile has


been officially recognized as the world's oldest. The tree,
a Patagonian cypress, is located in the Alerce Costero
National Park.

India & Bangladesh launch ’50 Start-ups Exchange Programme’
The exchange program facilitates visits between 50
start-ups from Bangladesh and 50 start-ups from
India, aiming to foster partnerships, expand business
relations, share experiences and knowledge, and
promote collaboration among young entrepreneurs.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi participated in the
third in-person Quad Leaders’ Summit in Hiroshima,
Japan along with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has

Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed that a new
consulate would be constructed in Brisbane during
his address at the Community Event in Sydney. He
announced that India will establish a new consulate
in Brisbane, Australia which aims to fulfill a long-
standing demand of the Indian diaspora in Australia.

The European Union (EU) has announced that


its Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism
(CBAM) will be introduced in its transitional
phase from October 2023, which will levy a
carbon tax on imports of products made from
the processes which are not Environmentally
sustainable or non Green.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted a special


meeting of the National Security Advisers (NSAs)
of India, the US, and the UAE.

China and Pakistan have held the 4th round of the


Foreign Minister-level Pakistan-China Strategic
Dialogue Islamabad, Pakistan, where they agreed
to extend the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor

GOVERNMENT SCHEMES
The Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance,
has launched the scheme, “Vivad se Vishwas I – Relief to
MSMEs” for providing relief to Micro, Small and
Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for COVID-19 period. The
scheme was announced in the Union Budget 2023-24 by
Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman.
The Telangana government has announced a new
insurance scheme for toddy tappers called ‘Geetha
Karmikula Bhima. It is aimed at providing financial
assistance to the families of toddy tappers who die
due to accidents while collecting toddy from palm
trees in the fields.
The University Grants Commission (UGC)
launched the online portal “CU-Chayan”
with the goal of streamlining the faculty
hiring procedure in all central universities.
It was made clear that all future hiring will
only occur through this portal.

The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and


Ministry of Railways jointly signed an MoU with Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for ‘Station Area
Development along Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail’
(Project-SMART).
Union Health Ministry launched the SAKSHAM
(Stimulating Advanced Knowledge for Sustainable
Health Management), a Learning Management
Information System (LMIS) of MoHFW. This
digital learning platform has been developed by
the National Institute of Health & Family Welfare
(NIHFW), New Delhi.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has established the
Centre for Processing Accelerated Corporate Exit (C-PACE)
to streamline the process of removing companies from the
MCA Register. The purpose of C-PACE is to reduce the
burden on the registry and provide a convenient process for
stakeholders to remove their company’s name from the
register.
Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw launched
Sanchar Saathi portal.
The Sanchar Saathi Portal is an initiative of
Department of Telecommunications. It empowers
the citizens by allowing them to know the mobile
connections issued in their names, get the
connections not required by them disconnected and
to block and trace the lost mobile phones.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) launched the


UTSAH (Undertaking Transformative Strategies and
Actions in Higher Education) Portal and the Professor of
Practice (PoP) Portal to enhance the quality of education

(ONDC) is a government initiative aimed at
transforming the e-commerce market in India
by shifting from a platform-centric model to an
open-network model.
