UNIT TITLE: Unit 1: The Mole Concept and Stoichiometry


Transfer Goal:
The learners should be able to independently make a creative representation on how the knowledge on atoms,
ions and molecules has changed our society and the environment. At the same time, knowing that some
chemical reactions are really complex and that some quantity of the product formed in a chemical reaction is
determined by the limiting reagent. He will be able to understand that in real life, everyone has limits thus
using every opportunity to have positive relationships with the people around you making you socially
transformed individual and becoming more globally competitive in handling properly the chemical products
so it becomes an agent of friendly environment.

You are a multimedia artist invited by nongovernment organization to collaborate with them to raise
awareness of the youth on the cultural impacts of chemistry related discoveries and principles.

Performance Activity

You are asked to make an informative video podcasts/vlog on how the knowledge on atoms, ions, and
molecules has changed our society and the environment. Include also in your presentations some chemical
reactions in order to inform the public about the benefits and hazards it may give to the environment. Highlight
also the reactants used in the reactions and be able to discuss briefly through presentations the mass
relationships between limiting reactants used in the reaction.

The video podcast will be evaluated based on the quality of discussion, accuracy of facts, organization,
creativity, and audiovisual quality and appeal.

1. Compounds, substances that we encounter every day, are a product of all the handwork of Chemist and
brought about by the development in the field of Chemistry. Formulas of compound always come in fixed
ratios. How about in life? Do you think there are things that are fixed and unchangeable? Explain?
