Given the Dutch policy-making capacity and high degree of development, especially in
Indonesia, some examples and lessons based on the culture of society itself can be drawn.
Given the situation in the Netherlands after World War II, the economic rate increased by 22%.
Due to the effects of the war, traffic conditions in the Netherlands are still restricted to bicycles.
This situation gave the Dutch the opportunity to design and build several cars to meet their
transportation needs or to show that the Dutch could invent something for the people. But
unfortunately, the situation is not going well, with certain traffic accidents happening every
year, so society thinks the government should consider the situation and act accordingly. The
protests were aimed at demanding safe and effective transportation, and eventually bicycles
became the primary mode of transportation. can be significantly reduced. By 1975, the
government finally announced a bicycle policy that all citizens should use bicycles as their
primary means of transportation and began building dedicated bicycle lanes.
Bicycles are the main means of transportation for people in the Netherlands, as vehicles such
as highly regarded cars have rather complicated and expensive policies. Parking is far from the
office and expensive. Until road taxes become very high and the age of cars circulating in the
fields is strictly controlled. Cars older than 5 years are heavily taxed and considered dangerous,
so they cannot be used outside the house during the winter. The station also has ample parking
spaces for bicycles and incentives for cyclists. However, there are few parking spaces around
the station. It must be quite far and very expensive. Then on the train there are special bicycle
carts.
The Dutch government has reduced social inequalities as much as possible. Don't let the rich
get richer and the poor don't get poorer. They apply the results to those who dare to earn more.
The country also provided facilities for the elderly. The country supports and protects the
elderly, the poor and people with special needs.
Compared to Indonesia, economic inequality is still ubiquitous, especially in some large cities.
In big cities where technology and infrastructure are highly developed, there are often people
living in poverty hiding behind them, and this is recognizable in Jakarta. For example, we have
a large stadium with international facilities and advanced technology that has become iconic.
However, deep inside, there may still be slums that have been excluded from urban
development, and the reality of economic inequality has become a social threat to the nation.
Apart from a crisis of representation in formal state institutions such as political parties and the
DPR, there is not much to expect from the media. If you think the media is also under oligarch
control. According to research by Lim (2011 and 2012), Nugroho (2012), and Tapsell (2017),
our mass media are dominated by a small number of conglomerates closely tied to power. As
a result, there is no diversity in content. For him, in the media there was two shades.
But on the other hand, it could give us the impression that the media has become the oppressor
of the rulers and the opponent of power. In this case, the critical functionality of the aspect has
been tested and the research should not be based on any assumptions or inferences. As a
political instrument, media can also be perceived as bartering and political trading. This is
where democracy can guide us towards the realization of the human rights of our citizens.
In other words, as Andres (2016) has shown, the media serves only as a tool to pressure political
elites to advance their own political economy. When politics is practiced as a cattle trade, the
media becomes a medium of exchange. Neither are very useful in achieving substantive
democracy. It is a situation in which democracy has been able to lead us to the realization of
the human rights of citizens, including not only civil and political rights, but also social and
economic rights.
Fantasies in the land of oligarchs cannot be hidden along with the country's flamboyant
development. Today, our economy still depends on oligarchs who are involved in the making
of some policies. Inequality in some places is becoming a major problem facing us in politics
today. . As the author put it, our imaginations are stricken with inequality and can be abolished
in the same way as corruption and oligarchy. We may even lose trust and confidence in
government as the situation can get worse year by year. Corporate intervention as a political
tool for oligarchs represents the inability of the state to offer democracy as the highest point.
But it is our responsibility to live an ideal life by analyzing and observing government
decisions. As an evaluator, you can therefore not only assist in the development of guidelines,
but also in their implementation.
