Introduction
1 Introduction
Introduction These instructions describe the procedure for installing Vision 2008 (version 4.1.1.58) soft-
ware on an iE33 or an iU22, and apply to both UMB and non-UMB systems. The upgrade con-
sists of installing the new software from a DVD (1 disk for iU22 systems, 2 disks for iE33
systems) to the HOST and SIP modules, or to a UMB system. System hardware configura-
tions can be identified by using the information in Appendix A: Indentifying System Hardware
Type. Also, the software will determine the system’s hardware configuration and give you the
appropriate upgrade choices.
1. BEFORE YOU ARRIVE at the customer site, ask your customer to save, to a customer-
provided DVD, any patient images or exam studies that they will want to reload following
the upgrade. Saving patient images is time consuming and may add hours to the upgrade
process.
2. Determine the system hardware configuration (see Appendix A: Indentifying System Hard-
ware Type) and the size of the HOST HDD (see Appendix B: Checking the Size of the
System HDD). Non-UMB systems (carts A-C) that are below Vision 2008 require upgrad-
ing the HOST HDD from 80 GB to 250 GB before you can install the 4.1.1.58 software.
3. The adjacent flowchart

damage static sensitive devices.
CAUTION! All patient images that are stored on the HDD will be lost after the new software is loaded!
5. If the customer has not already done so, store any patient images or data that the cus-
tomer wants to save to a DVD.
• Your customer must provide the DVDs for storing patient images and data.
• If your customer is using the HIPAA features, a message may be displayed that states
only authorized users of the system can use this feature. If this message appears,
contact the site's system administrator so that you can be added as an authorized
user.
6. Verify that the system’s date and time are correct.
7. Verify all system functions and if there is a problem, troubleshoot as required. Do not pro-
ceed with the upgrade if the system does not function correctly.
8. Press the <Setups> key.
9. Select “System Settings”.

FSEs should have no problem identifying currently released A.0 and B.0 sys-
tems. B.0 systems have a hardware label inside the back door that says "Hard-
ware Rev B.0". This has the SAMI hardware. The UMB and Revision 2.1
systems are more difficult to identify from the outside. They both have 20"
(widescreen) digital monitors. The easiest method to tell them apart is to look at
the AVIO where the cables are attached. These are quite different. See Figures

CAUTION! Vision 2008 software requires systems to have a 250 GB HOST Hard Disk Drive (HDD). The
DVD process will fail if the HOST HDD is too small, leaving the system with no operating sys-
tem.
Check the size of the system hard disk drive by doing the following:
1. Enter Tech Admin.
2. Launch the Service Tool Box.
3. Select Admin Tools.
4. Select Computer Mgmt.
5. Select Disk Management.
Check the Properties of Disk 0: It should read 232.88 GB (some space is not used).

Appendix D: Hard Drive Cable and System Performance Issues
If you encounter this, verify the IDE connection between the motherboard and
the hard drive or the Promise PCI PCB to the hard drive. The blue connector
should plug into the motherboard or the Promise PCI PCB and the black one
should connect to the drive.
NOTE It is easier to see the color of the connector if you remove it.
Also verify that the BIOS is set correctly for the proper DMA performance.
Enter the BIOS and select STANDARD BIOS FEATURES then highlight IDE
PRIMARY MASTER and hit enter and the page underneath will open. The IDE
PRIMARY MASTER on that page should be set to AUTO or MANUAL. (you will
need a video card and keyboard to do this)
It is a good idea to check the IDE cable on the HOST computer as well. If it is
reversed, it will reduce the bandwidth. If you already have the system open,
simply verify that the blue connector of the IDE cable between the Host Mother-
board & Hard drive is connected to the motherboard & the black connector is
connected to the hard drive.
If you do not see the error message on boot up, you can verify the HOST com-
puter IDE cable by running the Test Host HDD utility in Tech Admin, Tests &
Utils, Service Toolbox. After you run the test, view the results by using the
right slide bar, and look for disk c bandwidth & RAID total bandwidth.
If the values are ~ 30% lower than above, most likely the cable is installed incorrectly.

Appendix F: Setting the System to Full Power-Down
CAUTION! In the following Step, DO NOT press the Standby switch, only the main power switch is to be
used to turn OFF the system power. Using the Standby switch may cause the HOST and SIP
assemblies to become out of sync.
• Count ten seconds and then set the main power switch to the OFF position.
• Verify that the LED on the rear of the system turns off within one minute.
3. Do the following:
• Remove the system's rear cover.
• Remove the system's rear shield.
• Remove the retaining screw from the bottom of the HOST assembly.
• Slide the HOST assembly and AVIO RIP PCB from the back of the system.
• Disconnect the battery cable from the AVIO RIP PCB (second cable up from the bot-
tom). Verify that the LED on the rear of the system turns off.
NOTE If the LED does not turn off, this indicates a failure of the battery charging circuit or
power down circuit. Troubleshoot and repair before proceeding further.
