fengiseh - August 1904 ‘Anwelsung E-Lager Umlautot ir. 29/03-267 INSTRUCTIONS for installation, maintenance and operation SLIDE BEARING TYPE E ‘These instructions contain only data required for the assembly of the types of bearing listed below with circulating ol lubrication. Further details can be taken trom our bro- chute »Manual for the application of slide bearings. Bearing types and designations ©. 9, EGZVK 14-125 Type 5 Housing G: smooth Heat dissipation Z: oil circulation system {external cooling) X: oll ciculation system (external cooling) for high oil through put Shape of bore C: plain cylindrical bore Vi: fourlobe bore K: journal titing pads Thrust surface B: plain whitemetal shoulders K: —whitemetal shoulders with ta- per lands @: without shoulders ‘A; for thrust parts with RD thrust pads, see instruction 23103-443, Introduction Various procedures are used for the assembly of the bearings, depending on their intended application. The different methods of assembly have been taken into consideration in the design of the bearings, e. 3. the installation of bearings on electric machines with the rotor already in place. The simplest method is described here, where the shaft (6) is lowered from above into the roughly alig- ‘ned bearing base (1) with the bottom shell (4) already inserted, Threaded holes for connecting the thermometer (1), ll gauge (I), oi inlet (I) and oll outlet (IV) are provi {ded on either side so that all connentions can be ma- de on the right or left side as required. The oil drain plug (Vi) is positioned on the front of the bearing only. With regard to the oil outlet, make sure that the bore hhole mark on the radial face the outlet flange points vorticalle upwards. Bearing shells from size 18 onwards are provided with threads where lifting hooks can be screwed in For the transport of the fully assembled bearing, eye- bolts are screwed into the upper part of the housing (2). For safety reasons special care should be taken that the threads of these eyebolts are subjected only to tensile stress and not to bending strain. Despatch ‘The bearings are despatched assembled; accesso- ries (0. g. shaft seals (9)) are enclosed separately packed. Installation {After removing the upper part of the housing (2) and the bearing shell (3 + 4), the interior of the housing and the running surfaces of the shell are to be clea ‘nod thouroughly and checked for any damage cau- sed in transit, Bearing shells with journal iting pads have to be di- ‘assembled for cleaning purposes. When reassemb- ling the shell, tighten screws througly. Before the bottom shell (4) is replaced, apply oil to the spherical surfaces. The shaft (5) may now be partially lowered into posi- tion, Special care must be taken s0 that the axial run- ning surfaces of the (locating) bearing are not damaged. ‘As soon as the shaft has reached a distance of ap- ‘prox. 2 mm from the bottom shell (4), the housing ba- ‘50 can be precisely aligned. The control is made by ‘checking the distances between the shaft and the la- teral bores in the housing. ‘The gap between shatt and bore may show maximum differences of 0.3 to 0.4 mm on the circumference. (The more precise the alignment, the more efficient the seals (9) will be, regardless of the type used.) Now apply oil to the bearing shell or the shaft respec tively. Then lower the shaft into place in the bottom shell RENK AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT - WERK HANNOVER ‘The correct alignment ofthe bottom shell to the shaft has to be checked with a thicknes gauge by measu- ring the distance between the collar and one side of the shell. Eventually, further realignment may be ne- cossary. ‘When placing the top shell (3) into position make sure that the identification numbers of top and bottom hal- ves are the same and are situated on the same side. (Incorrect fiting may lead to heavy damage due to clamping of the shaft) Upper and lower halves of shell are screwed and bolted to one another. ‘iso, when fixing the housing cover (2) care must be taken thatthe identification numbers or marks match, ‘The cover bolts (7) must be tightened securely o pro- vent any oss of ol through the spit line or any loose- ning of the housing cover in cases where the installation is subject to vibration. The fixing pin (6) at the cover of bearings with four-lobe bore or equipped with journal titing pads has to be inserted last. The pin must not jam, in order to avoid clamping of the shel ll supply For bearings with a circulating oil system choose ‘such a pipe size that the flow rate in the inlet pipe does not exceed an approx. value of 1.5 mis and in the retumn pipe of approx. 0.15 mis. I, for any reason, itis not possible to realize a 15° gradient on the re- turn pipe, an adequate cross section must be chosen in order to avoid an oil back pressure which would ‘cause the lubricant to flow out of the bearing at the shaft seals Welded and hot bent, rustet or contamined pipes must be pickled before use. After instalation, all pi- pes must be purged to avoid damage to the bearing {due to contamination. Use kerosene of flushing ol for this purpose. During the cleaning procedure discon- rect all measuring instruments (pressure controller, flow controller) and seal the connections Clean the oil fiers after the rinsing process. Under no circumstances may the bearings be con- nected to the piping while the lubricating system is being purged. Shaft seals (9) (see Instruction 23/04-327) The contact faces of seal and housing have to be cle- ‘ned thoroughly (ree from grease and rust) and have to be coated with sealing compound prior to joining ‘them with screws. ‘The adjustable rigid seal is screwed to the bearing housing using Klinger-Oilit packing and non- hardening sealing compound. When tightening the ‘screws of the lower seal part, it has to be slightly pus- hed against the shaft. Non-hardening sealing com- pound has also to be applied to the seal joint. After having fastened the lower seal part the upper part may be installed, taking care that both parts aro matching, Putting into operation Carry out the following functional test of the lubrica- ting system before puting the bearing into operation © check of pumps (oll flow and pressure) © simulation of a pump failure to check the switch over to stand-by-pump @ check of the control instruments © check of the oil quantity supply to the bearing Operation ofthe oll pump with closed pressure line is not allowed, Further, the pump must always be filled with oil Dry operation is not permitted. Wit appears during the trial run that the bearing tem- perature measured is far above the value precalcula- ted by RENK, the machine is to be stopped at once ‘and the possible causes of the increased bearing temperature are to be investigated. In general it is advisable to dismantle the bearing shell after approx. 5 - 10 hours of operation and to ‘examine the running surfaces for damage (pressure concentration on the edges, scoring, drag marks) land if necassary to remove such damage by careful scraping, Under no circumstances itis admissible to remove such an amount of bearing metal that the ge- Cometry of the running surface is destroyed. Itis advisable to keep the outside of the bearing hou- ‘sing clean, in order not to destroy the efficiency of he- at radiation by deposits of dust or dit Oil chang intervals Cleaning intervals with pil changes of approx. 20.000 ‘operating hours are recommended Shorter intervals may become necessary in case of frequent start-ups, high oll temperatures or excessi- vely high contamination due to external influences.
