ACK MOMBASA MEMORIAL CATHEDRAL YOUTH 2023 AGM

CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT.

I greet you all in the Precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

On behalf of my fellow Youth leaders, I take this opportunity to thank all those who found time to attend
this AGM meeting. It is a new year full of God's grace and an opportunity to ask God to create in us a
heart that earnestly seek him as stated on our 2023 theme.

I thank the Lord Almighty for His grace for the almost 3 years that I have served in the office of the
chairperson, which I took over from my brother Eng. Evans Mramba on 13 December 2020.

It is another day, ladies and gentlemen, when we gather here to do that which is the will of God, that
which is noble and in accordance with the statutes of the Anglican Church. Today, we are bound to elect a
new cream of leaders who will walk with the children of God in this continual journey of faith for the
next two years. I pray that the will of God be done as I wish everyone in the ballot all the best in this
endeavor.

I also wish to appreciate all of you for the commitment you have shown for the ministry; your
unwavering support in the activities that we undertook is highly acknowledged. Your prayers and
encouragement has been of significance in helping us achieve every single success that we have realized
during our reign.

STATE OF THE YOUTH MINISTRY

1) YOUTH KITTY (Finance).

This department is headed by Treasurer CPA Auralia Onyango.

During the year 2021, the post covid-19 affected our worship activities and projects, specifically the
Youth container that is our major source of income as the youth ministry. Our clients in the rented
container had challenges in paying the rent and so we had to vacate them, however the recovery of the

arrears proved to be even a greater challenge to us. We faced many challenges on financial matters to
support the youth ministry.

-Through the Youth kitty, we managed to achieve the following...

 Church major harambee we contributed 100,000/-

 Participating in church high teas

 Bought a screen, Keyboard

 The Youth control room.

More reports as shown on the Treasurer report.

2) EVANGELISM

Detective James Ogare has headed this department, in which the key function of the Youth ministry lies.

Through this department, we managed to do outreach program i.e. street ministries, mission activities
when called upon by the church and visitation to the sick and bereaved family members within our
church.

KAYO enrollment where for the past 2 years we managed to enroll 23 new members. We are praying for
even a larger number coming this year.

CHALLENGES

- KAYO enrollment, Church registration and welfare registration.

- Youth giving themselves in serving.

- Youth joining main church.

WAY FORWARD

- Involve Youths in Evangelism

- Ensuring Youth enrolled as KAYO, church members and Welfare.

3) PRAISE AND WORSHIP

Headed by Joan Onyango, this department has been key in ensuring quality worship and spiritual growth
of members.

It has a key role during Wednesday prayers. Participating in the main church worship activities when
called upon.

The department has been active in the Archdeaconry and Diocesan worship activities whenever called
upon.

ACHIEVEMENTS

- Spiritual growth of our members.

-Equipped some members and make them available for main church ministering through praise and
worship.

-Developing the talent of the members.

-We managed to get two screens, one donated by youth member, one bought by the youth kitty.

-We bought a new keyboard, which been a challenge after the one we had spoiled.

-Recently, this week we managed to buy new Public address to replace the worn out instruments.

CHALLENGES

- Internet to enable worship to go online.

- Repair and replacement of items when spoiled.

- Not readily available when call upon to participate in Archdeaconry and Diocesan worship.

WAY FORWARD

- The incoming head of department must ensure Youths headed by the praise team participate in main
church worship team, Archdeaconry and Diocesan worship when call upon.

- Ensure spiritual growth of members being the main agenda

- The department head lead the Youth in Wednesday Youth prayers.

- Completion of the Control room, well equipped and internet connection for smooth worship.

4) PROJECT

- Headed by Edgar Samoi, whom been dormant in taking his role throughout his term.

ACHIEVEMENTS

- Youth container renovation hence increase monthly income from the tenant, from 16,000/- total monthly
rent to 24,000/-. This from three offices to four offices.

- Buying of worship instruments keyboard, Public address, Screen, Control room.

CHALLENGES

- Lack of finance for other projects.

- One more screen for the altar.

- Enough chairs for the sanctuary.

- Easier way of rent collection assisted by the church.

WAY FORWARD

- Church financial support.

- Buying one more container for rental offices.

5) HOSPITALITY

Headed by Camille Onyango.

ACHIEVEMENTS

- It has been a great help in organizing our activities, welcoming visitors,

-Facilitating, in conjunction with the Evangelism head, the visitation of the sick, bereaved family

-Facilitating birthday Sundays.

- Readily available for ushering during worship.

- Always available when call upon by the Church to serve in hospitality team.

CHALLENGES

- Follow up of members, the sick and bereaved family.

- Lack of personnel.

- Welfare registration.

WAY FORWARD

- Encourage members to join the team.

- Encourage members to join church welfare.

- Department head should follow up of members.

6) SPORT.

Department is headed by Gideon Ngala, assisted by Victor Oliech.

ACHIEVEMENTS

- Been a great tool of Evangelism, most Youths have join our ministry through outdoor sports.

- Have been key in building cooperation, collaboration and strong network with other churches
and church groups such as the MMC KAMA.

- Job opportunities i.e. the business minded youths, the talented youths always grab every
opportunity that comes with sport activities.

CHALLENGES

- Lack of finance.

- Lack of Games skits i.e. Jessy, Ball and other sport equipment.

-Lack of follow up.

WAY FORWARD

- Financial support

- Buying of sport equipment

- Follow up.

7) PRAYER AND BIBLE STUDY.

Department headed by Mr. Jacob Shereta, assisted by Mr. Rodgers Mtalaki.

ACHIEVEMENTS

- Spiritual growth of our members.

- Discipleship of members.

- We were taken through a few sessions on Anglicanism during the programme.

CHALLENGES

- Low youth turnout during Bible study.

- Venue for Bible study, Youth Sanctuary been taken by church choir for their practice on
Mondays.

- No teacher or person in charge from main church.

- Bible study materials.

WAY FORWARD

- Youth encourage to turn up, and each youth leaders must lead by example.

- Church to advise us on a permanent venue.

- Person should be appointed to take us through Bible study.

- Church to help us getting the required materials.

7) CULTURAL SUNDAY

This is the main source of our income, done annually, we managed to hold two successful
cultural Sundays, that is 25th September 2021 and 4th September 2022. We managed to gain a
profit as shown in the treasurer report. We thank every person who participated in these events.

ACHIEVEMENTS

- Youth given opportunity to serve lead and preach in the main church.

- Bringing Youth together

CHALLENGES

- Finance

- Personnel, youth don't give themselves to serve and help in raising money activities.

- Challenge on donations

WAY FORWARD

- Church support

- Encourage youths to participate.

- Encourage church members to donate and support.

CHURCH MEMBERSHIP/WELFARE/ANGLICANISM/BAPTISM AND

CONFIRMATION

- It has been noted that most Youth are not church registered members.

- Most Youths have not been registered as church Welfare members.

- Most Youths have not been taken through teachings of Anglicanism.

- Most Youths have not been confirmed.

WAY FORWARD

- Encourage members to register as church members, welfare and informing them why it is very
important to do so.

- Training/Classes for Anglicanism for the Youths to be undertaken.

- Encourage Youths to join baptism and confirmation classes.

9) MENTORSHIP

- The department is under the Youth Pastor office.

ACHIEVEMENTS

- We had a successful one on one talk 2021/22 where mentors were invited to talk to us on
different topics.

- We had mentorship program Organize by the Life ministry Kenya.

- Every Youth members were given a mentor to mentor and walk with, this has help many
youths.

- Teens mentorship program every holiday.

- Youth Education retreat and leaders retreat where different mentors were invited to take us
through different topics. We thank Church for the great support.

CHALLENGES

- Sustainability of one on one talk become a challenge.

- Mentors-mentee program is no longer there.

- Luck of church support.

WAY FORWARD

- Reviving the one on one talk.

- More education retreats

- Reviving the mentors with mentee program.

- Encourage Mother's Union and KAMA to organize mentorship for ladies and men respectively.

- Teens holiday mentorship.

- Financial support.

10) TEENS MINISTRY

- The department is under Youth ministry.

ACHIEVEMENTS

- Holiday mentorship program.

- Church bought new worship instruments.

CHALLENGES

- Low turnout.

- Mentorship program.

- Worship instruments are not in use. No one to play.

- Most of them are in boarding school.

WAY FORWARD

- More Mentorship programs.

- They should involve in youth activities.

YOUTH SANCTUARY

- Youth Sanctuary fully funded by the church, it was a great idea and we thank church for
accepting our request and ensuring we have a very conducive environment for worship.

CHALLENGES

- Chairs

- Worship instruments

- Delayed finishings.

- Insecurities.

WAY FORWARD

- New chairs for the sanctuary.

- Worship instruments.

- Finishing should be done urgently, windows and doors for security.

12) KAYO

Kenya Anglican Youth Organization. Is main objective is to bring up young people to know, to
love and serve Jesus Christ as savior and Lord.

ACHIEVEMENTS

- More Youths enrolled as KAYO members 2021/22.

- Youths actively participating in Archdeaconry and Diocesan activities.

CHALLENGES

- Most of our Youths have not registered and enrolled as KAYO member.

- Other leaders do not want to participate in Archdeaconry activities.

WAY FORWARD

- Youths should be encourage to register and enroll as members, with a leader it should be a
MUST one has to be a KAYO member enroll by Bishop.

- A leader elected under KAYO should always be ready to participate in both Archdeaconry and
Diocesan activities. Leading with example.

CONCLUSION

I would like to give the Almighty God honor and gratitude for giving us the grace, wisdom and
opportunity to serve the youths. My most sincere gratitude to our Clergy, Cathedral Chapter,
Youth Pastor, our spiritual leader Ev. Joy Kimega, fellow leaders and everyone who trusted me
with this great task that I've never regretted of.
